Blogging Quickly
I only have a couple of minutes before the day begins again. I'm on Mike Tyson watch. They put together a HUGE Tyson package and it's going up on the main screen of our service. What does this mean? Well, Monday when the Kobe Bryant situation happened I was alone. It was midday. I had no volunteers on and I had 5 overflow chat rooms and 100+ posts a minute to monitor by myself. While they keep saying that we're giving tools for members to manage their own experience, the first e-mails in my box were from my big boss to get coverage. Last time Tyson was on welcome, well, he made the Kobe mess from Monday look like nothing. If this goes through, it will be big and a nightmare since I only have 4 hours left on schedule between today and tomorrow (I took time off for Saturday).
This has pretty much sucked as a week. While Kobe hit I got my new RAM in this machine. Let me tell you, 256mb of RAM is okay for Windows XP they say. THEY LIE. I have ALWAYS had a problem with systems that didn't have at least a gig of ram with XP. From strange redrawing rates and lines in my video card picture to clicking noises over my sound card. They all go away as soon as you break the 1 gig barrier. I did this on Monday when I had 5 minutes during the Kobe 10 hour ordeal.
Unfortunately, I had reformatted the other PC and this one wouldn't refresh the network connections. I had moved nearly everything from that machine to this machine and reformatted everything over there and repartitioned it. Well, since it wouldn't see the new machine's new partitions, I had to figure out how to move everything that I had moved here onto partitions that had no real info on them then reformat this machine in stages while juggling the data I'd need.
So first pass was reformatting the C: and D: partitions. 2nd pass was move everything from E: to D: then reformatting C: and E:. How did I figure out I had to reformat twice? Because after reformatting and reinstalling C: and D:, windows saw E: had network info on it and refused to see the new machine (AKA my TV PC). MEANWHILE on the other PC, oh I got it formatted and running great ... until last night I went to upgrade ATI's multimedia center. There's an occasional bug in the upgrade that will cause it to totally forget you have a TV Tuner or any sort of TV inputs. You know, the whole purpose is to capture TV and it doesn't help if the flipping thing can't see it.
I was up until 2 am fixing it by reformatting.
It sort of works now. I didn't really check. It locked up during windows updates last night. I don't want to know. I'm taking the day and relaxing.
And writing strips. Whenever I get back we'll be daily again. Obviously, with 2 machines in pieces for 2 days, I haven't been able to even access my stuff. The plan right now is to do make up strips. So if I do strips today, 3 will go up. If it's not until tomorrow, 4, etc.
We'll get back into the swing of things.
Or die trying.
