::A-Choo!::

Tuesday morning and my allergies have opened up. I'm sitting here in a daze and getting ready to sneeze again. This one is building up. I can feel it. It's like in the back of my nose right now and here it comes ... nope. I think I psyched myself out of ... dammit. There it went.

Yesterday I realized that I've been involved in the TechTV community for about a year now. I'm pretty sure it was last April that I started hanging out in TechTV chat in the mornings and for part of the afternoons. Yup, it was just a year ago that poor Robyn would be up at like 6 AM Pacific to entertain us all in chat while trying not to fall asleep on the air. I kind of miss those times. I mean back then chat was a lot of fun in the morning and a good way to get me motivated for the few hours of work during Anne's shift (sorry Anne, you were always the serious one), to come back in time for "Hello Mrs. Burstein, that's a lovely hat you're wearing" in the afternoons.

This site started when chat started to get a bit too serious for my tastes, and when the egos came out and when I started to get stalked by one chatter in particular. So I decided to switch over some of the comedy from chat to just little Java apps (sadly none of them are working now). The first was a plea for Paul Allen to adopt Robyn since she was searching for a Rich new father figure. I sent that to Laura to send to Robyn and when feedback was good, it somehow led to the first strip.

We didn't take off right away, I think we were a week or two worth of strips into things before anyone actually noticed us and passed it around the TechTV offices. By that time things go so busy that we were killing the hometown.aol.com server on a regular basis (I mean that just DOESN'T happen), and it led to the site that you see in front of you now.

Okay, so I've slowed down in the past six months or so. I admit it, my time is scarce these days and while there will be an occasional strip, I don't think I'll be going back to dailies any time soon. There's just not enough material left at TechTV to work with right now. :( That's a shame. I mean seriously, last year at this time they were an incredibly diverse network. A station that you could spend your entire day watching and it didn't get old or boring. While there were lulls here and there, the station had a bright future and a great line up. I don't know what happened. I have my theories and my reasoning for the current near-death state of the network, but nothing will ever be confirmed. I mean it's sad how they went from such a fun little station to one where they're trying to bribe viewers to watch during sweeps with lame contests. Oh, write this down: you know the station is going to die the day that they have all bikini day on the Screen Savers.

Oh god, I might start a trend to give the powers that be the idea that boobies = ratings, so I'll drop it.

I might as well wander back to work now before these allergies (or Moopie hitting me for the boobies line), kill me off once and for all.

Sneezingly yours,
