WHAT YOU MISSED: a look at MANKIND vs. THE UNDERTAKER on RAW . . . it's announced that since The Undertaker lost the RAW match by countout, Mankind will be the second special ref. for the main event of WRESTLEMANIA . . . ROCKY MIAVIA comes out. The Rock says that he doesn't care who the ref. will be for the main event of Wrestlemania. He bad mouths PAUL WIGHT . . . PAUL WIGHT arrives. Someone approaches him and says what the Rock just did. He says he's going to go talk to the Rock . . . PUBLIC ENEMY vs. THE ACOLYTES: The match is thrown out as the Acolytes destroy PE and make me wonder why PE agreed to come to the WWF . . . Wight looks for The Rock . . . the little guy who approached Wight approaches The Rock and tells him that Wight is angry and looking for him . . . JESSE JAMES vs. JEFF JARRETT: Jarrett attacks Road Dog during his opening lines. OWEN HART tries to interfere and THE BLUE BLAZER knocks him off the top rope then attacks Jarrett behind the ref.'s back. The masked man unmasks to reveal D'LO BROWN . . . backstage KEN SHAMROCK attacks GOLDUST on one side of the split screen, while VAL VENIS & BILLY GUNN yell at each other on the other side . . . a look at SABLE'S playboy autograph signing in New York . . . The Rock in the back yelling at people looking for Paul Wight. He even looks in the lady's bathroom . . . VAL VENIS & BILLY GUNN vs. KEN SHAMROCK & GOLDUST: all four guys will be in a four corners match for the IC title at WRESTLEMANIA. Goldust has to be assisted out by THE BLUE MEANIE. Goldust and Shamrock brawl before the match. RYAN SHAMROCK comes to ringside. Goldust gets the quick win over Venis with a superplex. Goldust, the Meanie and Ryan Shamrock run off. Venis and Gunn brawl after the match . . . comments from SHANE MCMAHON'S preppie friends . . . comments from Billy Gunn. Val Venis attacks him. Ken Shamrock attacks Venis. Goldust attacks Shamrock. It's a huge backstage brawl . . . TIGER ALI SINGH comes out. He offers anyone $500 to blow their nose on the American flag. He asks former Olympic wrestling gold medalist CURT ANGLE to try it. Angle gets in the ring. Angle won't do it. Tiger tries $2000. Angle refuses. Tiger tries $5000. Angle says he'll do it. Angle goes to blow his nose and doesn't do it. He takes the Indian flag and blows his nose on it. Singh attacks him. Angle won't go down and chases Singh out of the ring . . . AL SNOW vs. THE BIG BOSSMAN: Bossman gets an easy win. The Acolytes enter the ring and go after the Bossman . . . STEVE AUSTIN is in the back . . . PAUL WIGHT comes to the ring. Wight says he was hired by VINCE MCMAHON to protect the WWF WORLD TITLE from STEVE AUSTIN. He wants The Rock. The Rock comes out. The Rock says that no one calls out the Rock and lives to tell about it. The Rock calls him names. Steve Austin's music starts up. The Rock orders Wight to go up the ring ramp to meet Austin. Wight does so and waits for someone to come out of the dressing room. Austin runs out of the crowd and stone cold stunners the Rock . . .

Mr. Main Event (w/"Brilliant" Bobby Baker) defeated Guerrilla Assassin Oswald with a sleeper after hitting him with a pair of brass knux when referee Gary Coleman was distracted.

KC Thunder defeated "Too Hot" T.Voeltz with the Thunder Buster.

"Beautiful" Brian Fury (w/"Brilliant" Bobby Baker & Lady Victoria) defeated "Bounty Hunter" Karl Kox (w/The Postmaster) with the Beauty Mark after hitting Kox with Baker's cane.

Alexis Machine (w/"Brilliant" Bobby Baker defeated Scotty Hot Body.

"Disgruntled" Dexter Dementia (w/The Postmaster) defeated Shadox by submission with a variation of the Indian Death Lock.

In a $5,000, #1 contenders battle royal, Alexis Machine was victorious after fellow Hotseat Members Mr. Main Event, KC Thunder and "Beautiful" Brian Fury voluntarily left the ring. Due to the win, Alexis Machine will receive a title shot at Heavyweight Champion Crusher Kline at the next Sandusky show.

WWF MONDAY NIGHT RAW 3/1/99
WHAT YOU MISSED: VINCE MCMAHON leads THE CORPORATION out. He says he has something to say. He says he has a surprise for THE UNDERTAKER. He says that KANE lied when he said that THE UNDERTAKER would burn in hell. He says that Kane can go there. He fires Kane. The men in white come for Kane. CHYNA attacks the orderlies with Kane. Chyna says that Vince is making a mistake. She says she can control Kane. She takes full responsibility for him. She wants Kane to take on STEVE AUSTIN tonight with the stipulation that if Kane can beat Austin he'll stay in the Corporation and if he can't Chyna & Kane will be fired. MANKIND comes out. Mankind wants to be a ref. at Wrestlemania. Vince says that Mankind can be a ref. is he defeats the Undertaker tonight. The lights go out and the Undertaker's face appears on the Titontron. His voice comes over the PA system. He threatens to take something from McMahon . . . RYAN SHAMROCK comes out of the locker room . . . STEVE AUSTIN comes in the arena. EARL HEBNER tells him that McMahon ordered a match with Kane tonight. Austin says he doesn't care . . . KEN SHAMROCK vs. GOLDUST vs. VAL VENIS -- WWF IC TITLE: BILLY GUNN was scheduled for this match but couldn't get medical clearance. Goldust kisses Ryan Shamrock. Shamrock attacks THE BLUE MEANIE, who is now Goldust's valet. Shamrock and Goldust are counted out. On the way out BILLY GUNN attacks Val Venis . . . JIM ROSS has his back to the camera while talking to Mankind and AL SNOW . . . JIM ROSS comes to the ring and he interviews BART GUNN. Bart has trouble looking in Ross' face. Ross has trouble talking and berates the WWF for not giving him his job back. He says that Gunn said was saying STEVE WILLIAMS was "his boy" and that Gunn had claimed to have humiliated Jim Ross by doing so. Ross says to respect him and look him in the eye. Ross slaps him. Gunn berates him. He says he did his job and did it well. He backs Ross in the corner and Steve Williams attacks Gunn from behind. Williams goes nuts on Gunn. Williams takes JR out of the ring . . . D'LO BROWN and IVORY discuss something in the locker room . . . JEFF JARRETT & OWEN HART w/DEBRA demand competition. They issued an open challenge. Debra says she'll give the robe off her back to anyone who can take the tag team titles. HUNER HEARST HELMSLY & X-PAC come out and the match starts. It is for the titles. SHANE MCMAHON attacks X-Pac outside of the ring and X-Pac runs after him. Hart and Jarrett are getting ready for the win but Ivory comes out. The match is thrown out as X-Pac returns. Ivory stares down Debra and Debra makes a beeline for the dressing room. D'Lo Brown attacks Jarrett & Hart, allowing Ivory to catch Debra and strip off Debra's robe, leaving Debra in her bra and panties . . . DEBRA wants a match with IVORY later in the show . . . LUNA brings out TORRIE. Luna says she's standing up for Torrie and the fans and will take SABLE and "bring her down to earth" tonight. Sable comes out. Torrie attacks Luna. Torrie and Sable double team Luna. Torrie goes to give Sable a high five and Sable turns her back on her. She follows Sable back to the dressing room but Sable ignores her . . . ROAD DOG JESSE JAMES vs. ROCKY MIAVIA -- WWF WORLD TITLE: PAUL WIGHT comes out. The Rock wins with The Corporate Elbow. AL SNOW comes out and tries to attack Road Dog with a chair. Road Dog stops him and gives Snow chair shots. "HARDCORE" BOB HOLLY comes out and Road Dog nails him with the chair. Road Dog challenges both guys to go out in the parking lot . . . Chyna and Kane discuss things in the dressing room . . . PUBLIC ENEMY come to the ring dressed as THE BROOD. The lights go out. The Brood's music starts up. When the lights come back up FLYBOY ROCCO ROCK is gone . . . Bob Holly and Road Dog brawl in the back stage area . . . DROZ over STEVE BLACKMON . . . Bob Holly & Road Dog brawl outside and are ambushed by Al Snow . . . JOHNNY GRUNGE finds ROCCO ROCK covered in blood and chained up in the back . . . Vince McMahon comes out. McMahon gloats about having a surprise for The Undertaker tonight. THE UNDERTAKER vs. MANKIND: McMahon orders Undertaker vs. THE BIG BOSSMAN in a Hell in the Cell match at WRESTLEMANIA. McMahon refuses to comment on the Teddy Bear incident from last week. The match goes outside the ring. The Undertaker attacks Vince McMahon and THE BIG BOSSMAN makes the save. The Bossman and McMahon run through the crowd to make their exit . . . IVORY vs. DEBRA: Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart are banned from ringside. PMS hit the ring and JACKIE attacks Ivory. Jackie & Debra double team Ivory. D'Lo Brown makes the save . . . KANE vs. STEVE AUSTIN: PAUL WIGHT comes out. This is a surprisingly good match. Wight slips a chair to Kane. Austin picks it up instead. Austin uses the chair on Kane. Chyna comes into the ring. Austin goes to hit Chyna with the chair but she gets out of the ring. Austin wants Wight and Chyna low blows him from behind. The ref. doesn't throw the match out. Kane holds Austin and Wight comes in. Austin ducks a kick to the face and Wight connects with Kane. Austin leaves . . .

ECWA SUPER 8 RESULTS 2/27/99 by BRETT SCHWAN
What a night for true fans of WRESTLING.

The ECWA presented their 3rd annual Super 8 Tournament in front of a sell out crowd of 600 plus.

LANCE DIAMOND enters the ring to be presented a plaque for winning last year's SUPER 8.

The first round saw:
STEVE BRADLEY defeat ACE DARLING with a victory roll in 8:05. Outstanding match.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS pinned JEFF PETERSON with a finishing move that left the crowd in shock. It looked as if Daniels was going for a slop drop like move when he turned it into a swinging neckbreaker, bringing Peterson down directly on his face. Another outstanding match. Kudos to Jeff Peterson for his performance in his first Super 8!!

MATT HARDY defeated CHRISTIAN YORK in 12:46 with a springboard moonsault. York seemed a little nervous and was tentative with some of his moves. Good match but not the best thus far.

DEVON STORM pinned JEFF HARDY in 13:21 in another action packed bout.

In the ECWA Mid Atlantic Title Match, MR. OOH LA LA (w/ ES EATON and PERSIAN PRINCE) defeated INFERNO KID thanks to help from DRACONOS. Ooh La La is your NEW Mid Atlantic Champion in 8:34.

The semi final bouts saw:
STEVE BRADLEY defeat DEVON STORM in 10:27. To try and do justice in describing this match (or the next 2 in the tournament) would be sacrilegious. Therefore, I wont. Let me just say phenomenal.

CHRIS DANIELS pinned MATT HARDY at the 11:05 mark with a roll up.

In the anything goes match, BRUTE FORCE handcuffed JR RYDER, GLEN OSBOURNE, and guest referee THUNDER to the ringposts while they took out their frustration on JJ the ring crew guy. The referee's decision - a no contest.

We then turned our attention to the ECWATron for the Title Turmoil Update. It seems the question of who is the rightful ECWA champion has been the topic of discussion among everyone in the sport. We see many of the ECWA stars giving their opinions of who is the rightful champion. In addition, we hear from Jim Cornette, Dennis Coraluzzo (well most of his words were beeped out), Bill Apter, and finally the athletic commission. As soon as the commission is about to render a decision, the tape gets screwed up. LANCE DIAMOND has entered and rips the tape out of the machine. Lance enters the ring to explain that possession is 9/10ths of the law. Enter CHEETAH MASTER. While the crowd goes wild for Cheetah's extremely long entrance, Lance is in the ring trying to stay awake. Finally, both men are in the ring. Lance says to Cheetah, "Now do you see why I hate you! You just wasted 10 minutes getting into the ring". Cheetah challenges Lance but COMMISSIONER NEAGLE says Cheetah does not have a doctor's release. Lance leaves and Cheetah nails Neagle with a chair.

In the 1999 Super 8 Tournament Final Match, "FALLEN ANGEL" CHRIS DANIELS was defeated by STEVE BRADLEY when Bradley used the momentum from Daniels' flying cross body to roll through and pin him. These two men were just amazing.

Overall, one of (if not the) best nights of wrestling I have ever seen. Congratulations to everyone who participated in this year's tournament.

Thanks to Jim Kettner for bringing in such amazing performers as Ace, Devon, Jeff, the Hardys, and talent not seen in this area often like York, Daniels, and Bradley.

ECWA returns to St. Matthew's Parish on April 17th with a Steel Cage bout in which Brute Force will battle JJ, JR, and Glen Osbourne.

WHAT YOU MISSED: a look at SCOTT STEINER vs. DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE . . . HAK vs. DAMIAN: Before the match Hak says all his matches are "Hak matches," which means "no rules". Hak wins with a Russian leg sweep . . . a look at DAVID FLAIR attacking his father . . . PSYCHOSIS over HECTOR GARZA JR. . . . a look at DEAN MALENKO & CHRIS BENOIT falling to CURT HENNIG & BARRY WINDHAM for the finals of the WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT . . . ERNEST MILLER has problems with his laser lights (which he bought from GLACIER), before his match with STEVIE RAY. Miller gets the rare win when VINCENT attacks Booker T with a slapjack . . . a look at Malenko & Benoit attacking Hennig & Windham after Superbrawl . . . a look at BOOKER T defeating BRET HART to become the #1 contender to the WCW U.S. Title . . . RAVEN & KANYON w/CHASTITY vs. EL DANDY & VILLANO V: Chastity is billed as Raven's sister. Raven babbles about this and that. He says he's more hardcore than Hak and BAM BAM BIGELOW. They play it up that Villano V wants revenge for Kanyon and Raven putting Villano IV out of wrestling. But really, is there any hope here? Raven & Kanyon destroy the lucha stars . . . BLITZKRIEG fell to JUVENTUD GUERRERA . . . a look at REY MISTERIO JR. loosing his mask . . . Konnan's new video . . . a look at Rey Misterio Jr. defeating KEVIN NASH on NITRO . . . THE DISCO INFERNO sings "the Canadian National Anthem" before his match with BRET HART. It's off key and some words are missing. Hart gets the submission win . . .

WHAT YOU MISSED: it's revealed that DAVID FLAIR attacked his father the night before on the PPV . . . a NITRO GIRLS/NITR PARTY video . . . NITRO GIRLS . . . a look at BILL GOLDBERG defeating BAM BAM BIGELOW at SUPERBRAWL . . . JERRY FLYNN over MIKE ENOS . . . TORRIE WILSON with DAVID FLAIR . . . comments from BOOKER T . . . VINCENT says he's in charge to SCOTT NORTON . . . a special look at WRATH on MORTAL KOMBAT . . . a look at the dumb DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE vs. SCOTT STEINER/KIMBERLY gets thrown from the car thing . . . The announcers, as usual, forget the match to put over the PPV replay or the horror that is the Disco Inferno. Booker T gets the win . . . a look at REY MISTERIO JR. losing his mask in the mask vs. hair match at Superbrawl . . . KAZ HAYOSHI fell to THE DISCO INFERNO . . . BRYAN ADAMS goes to SCOTT NORTON and says that he's in charge of the NWO BLACK & WHITE . . . NITRO GIRLS . . . SCOTT STEINER brings a girl out of the crowd and does an extended ramble in the ring while Buff Bagwell looks on . . . a look at BARRY WINDHAM & CURT HENNING winning the finals of the WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT by defeating DEAN MALENKO & CHRIS BENOIT . . . SCOTT STEINER vs. BILL GOLDBERG: Buff Bagwell takes apart a turnbuckle. Steiner gets rammed into it. Goldberg beats up Bagwell. RICK STEINER attacks both Scott Steiner & Bagwell outside the ring. The NWO Black & White come out but they argue and STEVIE RAY throws VINCENT into the ring to be destroyed . . . NITRO GIRLS bikini video . . . Disco back in the control truck, hijacking the signal. The technician refuses to do it . . . a face off between DAVID FLAIR w/TORRIE WILSON vs. RIC FLAIR: Ric Flair's limo arrives. We go to KEVIN NASH & HOLLYWOOD HOGAN in the dressing room and their TV screen switches to a video of Disco Inferno interviewing David Flair. Kevin Nash comes in dressed as "ARN ANDERSON" and we have a skit instead of a face off. Scott Hall does a horrible RODDY PIPER impersonation. Hollywood Hogan stars as Ric Flair. Pathetic . . .

WHAT YOU MISSED: VINCE MCMAHON comes to the ring. He brings out PAUL WIGHT. McMahon welcomes him to THE CORPORATION. ROCKY MIAVIA comes out. The Rock has issues with the claim that Wight single-handedly put the WWF title around his waist. The Rock gets in Wight's face. McMahon says this is all fooling around. They argue and Mankind's music plays and he comes out. MR. SOCKO is dressed as a ref. He wants to be the ref. for a The Rock vs. Paul Wight for the WWF Title tonight. The match is made . . . The Corporation argues in the locker room . . . PUBLIC ENEMY vs. THE BROOD: No reaction to PE from the crowd. The lights go out and the PE get the bloodbath . . . the Brood are disciplined by THE MINISTRY OF DARKNESS for losing the last match by DQ . . . KEN SHAMROCK vs. BILLY GUNN -- #1 CONTENDER MATCH TO THE IC BELT: VAL VENIS, who is doing color, throws Billy Gunn back in the ring and Shamrock attacks him. Gunn attacks Venis and it turns into a 3 way on the floor. Refs. come out to separate them and RYAN SHAMROCK comes out. Ken Shamrock yells at her and takes her to the back . . . Vince and The Rock argue in the dressing room . . . SABLE comes out for an interview. Sable is now a heel. Sable's stalker is in the front row. She comes into the ring. Sable asks her her name. She says "Torrie." Sable asks her what she finds fascinating about Sable. Torrie says she adores Sable. Sable calls her pathetic and to get a life. LUNA comes to the ring. Luna stands up for all women and says that the only reason Sable is WWF champ is because of her looks. Sable goes off on Luna then attacks Luna and Torrie with the WWF Women's World Title belt . . . Vince McMahon tries to talk Wight out of fighting Rocky for the belt tonight . . . D'LO BROWN comes to the ring. He wants JEFF JARRETT, OWEN HART & DEBRA. It becomes a handicap match. PMS comes to the ring. JACKIE climbs to the top rope and drop kicks D'Lo from the top rope. He goes forward into a spinning heel kick by Owen Hart. He's then pinned . . . MANKIND is spray painting referee stripes on his white shirt . . . MANKIND in the ring as a ref. Vince McMahon comes to the ring and says the WWF title match isn't going to happen. The Rock's music starts up and the Rock comes out and says the match is on. Paul Wight comes to the ring. The match starts and Wight and the Rock attack Mankind . . . DROZ fell to STEVE BLACKMON. After the match Droz attacks Blackmon . . . Vince McMahon instructs KANE to destroy THE UNDERTAKER . . . GOLDUST vs. VAL VENIS: THE BLUE MEANIE attacks Goldust, resulting in the DQ win for the Golden one . . . CHYNA talks with SHANE MCMAHON . . . BART GUNN vs. BOB "HARDCORE" HOLLY -- WWF HARDCORE TITLE: a guy in a Japanese stage mask attacks Gunn. Holly gets the pin . . . SHANE MCMAHON & CHYNA in the ring. X-PAC comes out. X-Pac chases McMahon around the ring. HUNTER HEARST HELMSLY pedigrees Chyna. X-Pac gets the easy win . . . KANE vs. THE UNDERTAKER -- INFERNO MATCH: PAUL BEARER has a package for Vince. Vince opens it and there's a teddy bear inside the box. McMahon gets upset. Kane's foot is on fire so he loses the match but McMahon is oblivious to it. The Undertaker comes over and takes the bear. he lights the bear on fire and throws the bear away. McMahon stares at the bear as it burns . . .

NOTES FROM THE MAD DOG
Well, we're delayed a week. I took a little time off last weekend to actually go see some live wrestling. Between Long Island, New Jersey, and Delaware I drove some 700 miles or so last weekend and frankly, I was in no shape to catch up on WCW Thunder and Nitro. It was something I didn't want to see while I was in that shape.

This week we start with a belated "get well" to long time pal "Double K" of the Wrestling Clothesline hotline. Double K was in a bad way and missed the ECWA show. "Get well" cards can be sent to him at JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING . Also we send out our best wishes to long time reporter Jeff Amdur, who is taking some time off for family needs. Hang in there Jeff and hurry back!

This report is a week late due to one reason: WCW SUCKING. Yes, I'm putting all the blame on them. Since the last time I wrote they've gone further downhill, so much so that it's painful to watch my tapes of them. If I could I'd eliminate them from the Ring Report altogether until they get some sort of a clue.

While others out may be kissing head booker Kevin Nash's butt out here I'll tell it like it is: Wrestlers should not be bookers. Wrestlers who are bookers should not put themselves (and their friends) over as the be-all-end-all in the sport. There's nothing worse than a guy who only gets a belt or a push because he's booking himself in the main events. That's not a way to run things, IMODO, and people tend to laugh at the washed up out of shape guys who do that ("Look, I've got a belt!"), let alone washed up millionaire superstars. Think about it "Big Sexy."

I will give them credit though. They're a little less painful to watch now that Eric Bischoff isn't on TV every week. Thank god for small miracles.
