Mid-Week Get Outta My Faces

TechTV Launches "Hyperactive": Realtime Game Play That Links With the Network's Late-Night Programming

Thanks to Marketwire.com for that news article. Yes, in an effort to ... umm? What, exactly? TechTV is launching something called "Hyperactive." It's apparently a new way NOT to watch 'Unscrewed' as you'll be too busy playing videogames. Yes, video games. Neat-o. Peachy keen!

I'm sure they've invested quite a lot of money in the technology and it'll improve ratings by a whole half of a half of a half of a half of a forth of a eighth of a ratings point. The same bump can be achieved for a lot less money by having Morgan Webb or Laura Swisher go braless for 2 seconds of their broadcasts. But hey, who am I to give them ratings advice? They're so successful that they've ... well umm. Okay that was a low blow. I apologize.

To make up for it I'll link to the TechTV Playboy Poll Results page where you can oogle over a picture of Morgan Webb. Note that Melanie Kim was in the voting. Did I miss something in the few times I've watched the channel over the past months? Is she actually on-air talent? Does anyone actually care about her? She seems like an attractive girl but umm, is she THAT important to the channel that she should be included? And will she actually have a job in a month if/when they give the Techlive crew the heave-ho?

Let alone isn't it just like Leo's luck to have him "scale back" his contract and put all his efforts into 'Call For Help' and it turns out that show probably won't survive the G4/TechTV merger?

Makes sense to me.

More News

Here's an interesting article from the Contra Costa Times. It seems that an unnamed female TechTV employee is in the jury pool for the Laci Peterson case. She said she may not be able to serve for the whole time on the jury as TechTV is being bought by Comcast and she doesn't know what Comcast's policies on jury leave will be.

Yes, I'm bored, it's Tuesday night and I have 15 work hours left for the week. I should be tired and out of my mind, but I'm not. I'm here. I'm doing okay and all is okay.

That's the cue for the world to explode. :)

Comcast Buys TechTV

Lots of reactions out there to the Comcast meger of G4 and TechTV. First, an article:

TelivisionWeek

The article quotes the CEO of G4 as stating the following shows will "likely survive": "X-Play," "Robot Wars," "Anime Unleashed," "The Screen Savers" and "Fresh Gear."

The article goes on to say that the new channel will probably launch in May and that the San Francisco studios/offices will either be shut down or downsized.

You know, as much as I think there are people who don't deserve to get as much airtime as they do on TechTV ::cough::catschwartzsarahlane::cough:: I don't want to see anyone lose their jobs in this economy.

Obviously a move to Santa Monica is going to be a big change for a lot of people. A lot has to be decided in the next month or so before everything changes. The shows will probably focus on video games exclusively now and of course "Call for Help" and "TechLive" look to be going the way of the dodo. I won't cry for "Unscrewed." I never watch it. I get video captures from the three minutes at a time I can stand it before I change the channel.

We can only watch and wait for what happens.

As for this site, well, as long as there are TechTV shows on the air and no one from Comcast objects to an obscure website running strips about them (and provided DirecTV keeps the channel), I'm still going to do strips. If not, I have another project in mind to tackle. Won't be as fun nor will it be as picture happy as this site (so there goes the 10,000 uniques we got this month from Cat being on Howard Stern), but I won't retire the old stuff. It'll be there ... sitting here like a tombstone. A reflection of the dot com bust I guess.

G4? God, lol, glad I kept it "One Day at ..."

I hate Google. Part Whatever.

Google upped the pages in the search engine the other month. Since then the archives from last year of November and September have been the top pages on this site. Why? Because they either had a joking listing of body parts or listed or keywords used to get to the site, which featured the same.

My bandwidth is gone again. Totally smoked this month from horny people looking for TechTV people without their clothes on. Rather than repeat the process here and name the words, I'll just say you know which part (sounds like doobies) and you know who (sounds like Rorgan Debb or Haura Twisher). Thanks gals, through no fault of your own, your body parts and the horny people who want to see them are killing the site.

I say they should just pose for a men's mag. Get it over with and save my bandwidth.

I actually had to delist the two pages in question from Google last night because even though I stripped all content from them, Google still archived them as the OLD words and people were going to the archive pages, which still crushed my bandwidth.

Thanks, so much, Google. Remind me to pay you back one day.

Bastards.

If you're a hornball and you're looking for pictures of people removing their clothes, forget it. They don't exist. I won't mention body parts again (and yes, that recent blog with the n a k e d word in it a couple of times will probably have to go too). Why? Because you like undressed people. You like them too much and you hate the rest of the site because of it.

Whoda thunk it?

Going Insane 3

I have a deacon's bench in my computer room. Essentially a little bench with storage underneath. I put a towel on it and put the cat food there for the cats to sit on. This afternoon I had to figure out how to get it in the cornor between my computer desk and the entertainment center. I measured and supposedly everything was going to work ... it didn't. Ended up having to get my dad and trying to move the entertainment center ...

When we installed the Entertainment center in here years ago my brother and law broke the support piece on the left end. It was half broken but stable. Today my dad and I accidently killed the rest of it. I have it propped up now, but I'm not putting any value in long term storage. I ended up ordering a TV stand from Sears and I'll pick it up later this week.

God, lol, the day just gets weirder.

Going Insane 2

It's a wet, rainy day. Probably the first wet, rainy day we've had since October where the wet wasn't snow. This has been a curious winter and now it's starting a curious Spring. Weather has been mixed up a lot and it's nothing like it usually is around here. I thought last year's snow was bad but this year's has taken the cake. We had more snow this Winter than I can ever remember having. Don't know if this is normal or not but it has my concerned.

I'm still moving things around in the computer room. My computer desk is WAY too big to move. I'm actually longing to trade places with it and my entertainment center. Both are huge though, and both have a small army of junk on them so even if I had people here to help move them, it would still be a nightmare trying to facilitate moving them. I am taking the rearranging of this room as an excuse to throw some things out. I got rid of all the cats' card board boxes. I left them one to sleep in. They had a whole pile of boxes to play in. It was nice for them, but really, it was setting off my allergies too badly to keep and it didn't make the room clean.

Clean. Yuck.

I'm planning on getting another big bookcase to put ... you know ... BOOKS on ... I realized that the other new bookcase is covered in anything BUT books and I have a whole library here. Someone teach me to sell obscure star trek books on ebay please. Haven't bought one in YEARS yet I have a whole drawer filled with them. I'm a geek, dammit, but I've gotten out of both Star Trek and Star Wars lately because a) there's waaaaaaaaaaaay too many multi-part books to catch up with them all (most books are 3 to 5 to 9 part epics), b) it's too expensive per book ($7 a book! Yikes!), and c) the continuity is so messed up that what you read in one book is often mooted by another book or TV show (ENTERPRISE! AAAAAAAAAAH!), by the time you finish the book. So why bother reading?

In my next life, I'm coming back as a Star Trek babe. There's one on every show now. 7 of 9 begat the Vulcan chick who will begat a bunch of babes and bimbos on whatever shows that will be coming. I've only seen a couple of episodes of Enterprise (no WB or UPN on my dish), so the only thing I know about it is the commercials and the news stories that they're "Sexxing up" the series to keep it on the air. I really think it should be canceled. Going back in time was a mistake. No one cares about the early Star Trek universe. Writing a weekly series set in that era only makes the die-hards furious because you end up screwing up established continuity (never ever ever read a star trek continuity debate. You'll agree that no one is getting laid on that board -- even the married ones) and regular people won't care because they want the boom pow zowies of all the previous star trek shows.

They should have set Enterprise in the far future. Make it the VERY same show but set it 3,000 years in the future. After most of the galaxy is destroyed by various wars and have man just rediscovering the technology to take to the stars. Have new spins on all the Aliens we've known and loved. That whole Vulcan/Romulan reunification thing that the geeks pop their tops over? Make it happen! Make Vulcans the bad guys or whatever! Have the Borg wipe out the Klingons! Who cares? It's 3,000 in the freaking future. The story possibilities are endless.

Worried that the Next Gen cast won't be able to guest star? WHO CARES? The next Gen movies suck anyway. The characters are getting as old as the actors that play them. The last movie was so bad that it should have been the stake through the heart of that series. B4? GET REAL. GET OUT. BRING ON THE NEW ALIENS, BABES & ACTION.

Star Wars is just as bad. One of the thrills of Star Wars, Empire and Jedi was to see the new and different vehicles and effects that each new movie would bring. The Star Destroyer in the first one became several in the 2nd evolving to the super star destroyer in the 3rd. Tie fighters went from cool (Darth Vader's with the folded wings), to cooler (Tie Bomber) to coolest (Tie Enforcers or whatever the cool ones were in the 3rd movie). The fundamental flaw in the new movies (other than the plots suck), is the fact that nothing is cool. Nothing is different. Nothing is "oh wow." Earlier is just a bad move all around when most of the die-hard fans are waiting for that moment when Darth Vader's theme pops up as the Tie Fighters make their way into existence. SCREW midicholoreans and talk of the variance in the force, give me cool music and some freaking tie fighters and call me entertained.

Natalie Portman is the only saving grace of the new movies. She's 10,000,000,000,000,000% times hotter than Princes Leia ever was and dammit, the fact that Kiera Knightly was her double in the first movie fills a lot of perverted fantasies on most Star Wars nuts' dreamworlds. It's too scary to get into. So leave it at that. :)

Okay, enough ranting. Back to work. I've got furniture to move.

Going Insane

I think I finally snapped. Completely bonkers. Yesterday I was thinking about getting some new shelves. I ended up buying a huge bookcase and and even bigger storage cabinet at walmart. Thankfully my mom was here to put both together because, as I'm discovering, my mind doesn't do directions. So I was up until 1 am putting my computer room together. There should be a new webcam picture up now. Instead of me and an ugly picture hanging on the wall behind me, you'll see a ton of cabinets behind me. Enjoy.

I'm off to shower then ... take recycling over? Dear god, I MUST be sick.

I'm so Scared.

How bad are things at TechTV? This is their current on-air line-up. Be afraid.

I'm watching the Jessica Corbin/Chris Leary Techlive replay from last night. It's as bad as it sounds. Worse, when I just realized the last segment was recycled from THE LAST TIME I WATCHED THIS HORRIBLE SHOW 6 MONTHS AGO.

The lead story was about if bunnies were on Mars.

I kid you not.

Quality journalism there folks.

Quickly.

I was in a mood so I went ahead and did a new strip. We'll see how many I do in coming days. I'm feeling kind of better and I'm getting in a mood to write again. Have a subject to go with and things in mind to finish the season. Just taking one step at a time now. Can't say I'll do more, but damn, "Tis The Season of TechTV" started and should have finished around Xmas. It's time to close out that season and get on with things.

NOTHING is what it seems. I'm going to uncharted waters. So stay tuned ...
