So, yeah, testing this whole “multiple categories” thing that I’ve rambled about over in Site Updates with a new post for the day that’s different! Really! Something else on my mind!
Or, I’m avoiding lettering the last five pages of issue 0601, or something like that.
I just wanted to get some ideas out there and share so I can actually sleep tonight. The first being, I think our next step is going to be doing the zero and issue ones for volumes one through five while I still have the bookend story in my brain. Consider volumes one through five a painting that I’m filling in from left to right. It’ll never be complete until the early stories are converted, then volume six is an entirely new work that is filling in on it’s own. There are a total of six issues of that volume, five are being redone and released on their own pace but it’s all the current universe. I know a lot of old readers have the old ones memorized, so I’ll be filling those in while I can with everything relevant to volume six out there first so you won’t be too lost with the new issues.
The story I’m telling right now is volume six. This is the new stuff. If you’re new you can step into volume six’s zero issue with everything you need to know about the new continuity. 05-06 matters, sure, but you don’t HAVE to know that story to know what I’m telling. It was an ending to what was and I’m proud of it, but I’m not requiring you to go back and read everything.
The zeros and ones for the rest will be more like 05-06. Not required reading, but starting points as the series fill in. There’s a lot of good stuff in those old issues that I want out on the web in the best format possible. There’s a lot of crap out there too, I admit, but there’s more good than bad, I hope, and the issues will be reflective of what they were with a couple of changes to improve the visual elements and to reflect people that we don’t have the rights to or things that didn’t make sense.
HERE BE THE SPOILERS: Landon now has a video blog instead of a regular blog and is a vastly different person in volume six than what he was before. Ralph is going to be in the first series to replace a character. Mae Neva in the first series, who currently isn’t played by Lee-Ann Barnaby, will now be combined with Lee-Ann’s character. Lost the face rights there. No other way around it. Lee-Ann’s old character didn’t have anything to do for the second half of the series anyway. Andy and Elton will be distinctly different characters throughout the series. Probably visual changes for the Electros. The events form the animated series will now be included in Universe when I get to it. Newbie will be in the first series to replace a character. I may redo the art for season six’s trial because I hate the current face sculpt for the new Sally and her old hair doesn’t work with it. Going to be a problem with series one and two if it’s not fixed. Princess and the angels will be constant throughout the series. Again, face rights. Landon’s back story will finally be told. Plus Timmy… yeah. Timmy.
Our publishing schedule is still going to be “whenever the heck I feel like publishing one” but I’ll be promoting something new every Friday night on Facebook so visit our group and you’ll see, well hopefully, more of the old new or new new stuff from me.
