RATFARTS! The blog of little Jimmy Finch…
By now you’ve (hopefully) see that we went live with the first of five completed issues of our new comic strip “Good Morning, Sunshine (and Happiness).” The first issue is up and it’s not the usual style, it’s actually a bit of horror rather than the usual light hearted stuff we tend to put out. Actually, come to think of it, no, the horror element has always been there but people look past it to focus on the silly stuff (keep forgetting that “Retro, Retro, Retro” started with thousands of bodies and a serial killer being revealed).
Issue #1 is a traumatic event that will have ramifications as the silly comes back and the world is fleshed out. iClone and Character Creator from Reallusion have come to the point where we have near photo-realistic output, and some of the expressions the characters can make really add to the element of we’re not messing around now. These folks are quasi-real and doing the screen captures for the first issue and it felt creepy putting them in the situations we did. But…
We finished putting up the last issue of the re-release of ‘One Day at TechTV’ and the story ended on a cliff-hanger. Our main character/villain for those last few seasons had taken over the world, while there were seeds of resistance forming, all that time ago, we never had a chance to complete that story. Added bonus, we have about 70 full comic books that haven’t been up on the site in ages with characters we’ve focused on for a decade and a half. They’re not going anywhere, they’re all out there, doing nothing and waiting for a return as time is found to do that.
“Good Morning, Sunshine” means to change that, combining the best of both. Yes, the names to some have changed (and the “One Day at TechTV” stuff may go away at some point as we’ve discussed before), some have been combined and the tone of the series has to reflect a modern age (unless in flashback…). This batch of characters is incredibly flawed as well. You’re going to see things in the first five issues that are new and are going past boundaries and mental blocks and egos and I don’t give a flocks.
“Good Morning, Sunshine” would be rated a hard PG-13 if we did ratings with situations you’d find on Netflix shows. There may be body parts that we wouldn’t normally show, if there’s a reason for it. We still find #$#@ funnier than actual swear words, so you may not see those (they haven’t come up yet), again, unless the situation calls for it.
For those who have followed the series presented here, there will be references and characters from everything. Starshine Downs is a real place and will appear. Bozztown is still the setting of the main series, still West Coast. The flooding probably didn’t happen, but something entirely worse did… which you’ll learn about in our next issue.
Speaking of, the current schedule is Sunday nights at 8PM Eastern Time for the first 16 issue season. From there, we’ll get back to you.
With that, we thank you for your continued support and hope you stick around for the ride!
