DeCastro Victorious? Skeptic Lends a Hand!
As Tuesday, November 29, 2022 begins, Jose “Chille” DeCastro will awake to a day where he’s seemingly on his way to achieving most of his recent goals. He’s managed to silence most of his major critics through the use of YouTube’s copyright strike system. His YouTube channel, despite DeCastro being suspended from the service is actually growing — picking up 100 new subscribers every morning on a regular basis and up an estimated 2300 subscribers since the ban went in place. He’s turned his federal court case into what is described as a money-sucking quagmire of inept pleadings and bold new case law. His primary opponent, Kate Peter, bane of his existence, is publicly struggling with her new found fame, minimizing her presence on her Discord server and YouTube to experience life outside of the front lines in the “war” with DeCastro.
DeCastro has the world in his hands, yet, due to circumstances of his own making, he remains mysteriously quiet. DeCastro is a self promoter, posting countless hours of videos and live streams. His YouTube channel currently reaches about 51,700 subscribers. Each time he posts a message to whatever platform he’s on that day, the feedback he receives has achieved critical mass, with fans and foes finding him and giving feedback without being directed to his presence. It seems like everyone knows where to find DeCastro even as he finds new roadblocks to overcome with bans from social media platforms.
Peter filed a motion to counter DeCastro’s contempt charges on Monday, November 28, 2022, and sought to hold DeCastro himself in contempt with further possible sanctions from the Court. No response from DeCastro. He has a motion to show cause in the Ironton Federal court case due on Wednesday, November 29, 2022, yet it’s gone unmentioned. Team Skeptic devoted a portion of his live stream on Monday, November 28, 2022, to sending his viewers over to DeCastro’s latest platform, Rumble.com, and helping DeCastro achieve the 100 subscribers he needs to live stream on that platform. DeCastro failed to respond. All of these things have brought DeCastro roaring back into the public eye, yet DeCastro remains silent.
The realities DeCastro faces may be hitting him. YouTube requires the accuser in a copyright claim case to file a lawsuit in the state that the accused lives in within 10 business days of a counter claim being filed. To fulfill this requirement, DeCastro was counting on adding the names of those he was attempting to silence to his federal lawsuit against Peter and co-defendant Josh Abrams and turning that case into a federal copyright lawsuit. With just a handful of days to go before the 10 business days are up, DeCastro has not attempted to add anything to identify his detractors (even the names of their YouTube channels if he can’t provide their identities), to the lawsuit. He’s made threats to YouTube that he was going to add them to the lawsuit for damages in the millions, yet he has failed to act on that. As it stands now, Peter and Abrams remain the sole named defendants in the case as the judge has not ruled on his revised complaint.
DeCastro is currently serving a suspension from YouTube that he describes as lasting two weeks. YouTube has been known to take action on those who abuse their copyright strike system. DeCastro has filed hundreds (in his own estimation) of copyright strikes that have been counter-struck and all require lawsuits to be brought in order to maintain the strikes. He continues to issue new copyright strikes, with Team Skeptic reporting that YouTube recently denied a new claim by DeCastro against his channel. The first wave of critics that have seen their YouTube channels suspended through copyright strikes may start to get their content and channels back by Thursday, December 1, 2022.
The next 48 hours will be very important in the life of Jose “Chille” DeCastro. Will he yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of an apparent victory? Stay tuned.
