On Friday night, my personal Discord account was suspended for “consistently” violating data rates. The suspension only lasted an hour and was primarily due to the fact that I was posting short news reports throughout a very busy news day and was flagged by Discord.
These news reports started in the Chille-Watch channel of Kate Peter’s Discord server. They’ve quickly evolved to both a long report (which you are reading) and a short report that is constantly updated with new information on Kate’s server.
Since the reports are deemed of some value, I asked for and was granted a channel on Kate’s Discord where I can post a single base report a day then edit that report with new information. This should solve the Discord data rate violations and keep my account from being permanently suspended.
Kate Peter, nor anyone else, has attempted to directly influence these reports. As any reporter does, I’ve exchanged direct messages with many of those I cover. I am trying to keep a reputation of being unaffiliated, but biased as the report started on Kate’s server, Chille has threatened to include anyone who posts there in a class action lawsuit, and I’m human. I have my natural biases. Take with you what you want from that.
That stated, I am not being paid by Kate Peter or anyone else at this point as I’m currently unemployed. This is a bad time of year for my industry (Online Community Management at a Senior level), with another round of traditional industry wide layoffs coming within the next three weeks and hiring freezes hitting the industry.
For those that wish to help, this site does take Paypal donations and I have received a single donation in the past week of 20 Euros (thank you to the person who did so!). I refuse to ebeg (even if this seems like ebegging to you), and all donations will be put back into creating site content and keeping the site alive.
My LinkedIn profile can be found at the top of the page and if you know someone hiring someone to be a Senior Community Manager or Head of Community, I’d be most appreciative if you’d send them my LinkedIn profile.
