Jose “Chille” DeCastro released another audio statement to his YouTube on channel, blaming himself for his court losses and pledging to change in order to fight the system after he is released from jail.
DeCastro is currently incarcerated in the Clark County, Nevada, Detention Center after being convicted of interfering in a traffic stop and obstructing an officer. His video started with footage of his hearing from April 1, where he was denied bail during the appeals process.
While initially blaming his actions and his words for his court losses and Arizona, Massachusetts, Ohio and Nevada, he later shifted focus and placed the blame for his loss in Nevada on Justice of the Peace Zimmerman’s bias, as he claimed she was married to a police officer, and she had already predetermined his fate at the bail hearing because of it.
DeCastro then announced he was appealing the bond decision directly to the Nevada State Supreme Court on constitutional issues and Zimmerman’s bias. He also indicated that he was going to file a writ of habeas corpus to challenge his conviction on the grounds of ineffective council.
The jailed YouTuber described former attorney Michael Mee as a nice man, but an ineffective attorney who did not raise serious unspecified constitutional issues before the court and did not present evidence that would have exonerated DeCastro during his March trial.
Predicting he would be released from prison by the end of April due to intervention due to the Nevada State Supreme Court or due to his writ of habeas corpus, he indicated that he now knew how to audit in a way to help people avoid red flags and survive audits without arrest.
DeCastro again pledged that he was going to write a book based on his experiences in jail and his Constitutional Law Scholar board game was now finished and he would be sending it off to have it published while he was incarcerated.
Praising the guards, DeCastro indicated that a good portion of the guards had watched his videos and were apparently on his side. He praised them for being tough but fair and that he has witnessed no cruelty by the guards towards anyone during his time in jail.
DeCastro, a former actor, expressed remorse for his actions and said he needed to change “ever so slightly” to survive his ordeal.
Reaction to DeCastro’s statement was mixed, with a small amount of his followers expressing their concerns that he has become a “cop sucker” because of his comments priaising the guards.
The YouTuber claimed that he will be out of jail by the end of April, or July, or August at the latest. The state of Nevada currently has him scheduled for release on August 4, 2024.
