In the latest jailhouse recording released to Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s YouTube channels on Thursday, the YouTuber warned of the dangers of being popular in jail as it may bring him extra time in “the hole.”
Apparently recorded on Tuesday morning, 24 hours after having bail denied in a hearing carried on the Our Nevada Judges YouTube channel, DeCastro claimed that his face was on the front page of a newspaper and that every prisoner in the jail had a copy of the paper and knew who he was.
The YouTuber, paranoid about going back to the segregation cells he calls “the hole” (and not solitary confinement, the more common definition of “the hole”), begged his editor and Brian “Here’s the Deal” Young to stop playing his recordings during livestreams and to indicate that they were recorded messages.
DeCastro explained that he felt that the guards didn’t mind his recorded messages going out as long as he wasn’t livestreaming or telling specific facts about life in the jail. He then went into a detailed description of his normal day in jail.
He claimed that he was only sleeping for an hour or two each night as the jail is an endless mixture of sounds that he can’t block out. Further stating that there was only so much he could do by plugging his ears and humming, he broke down and said that while he was strong and only broke down after getting back from his bond hearing, every person in the jail had broken down in tears at some point upon experiencing the inhumane treatment in the jail.
DeCastro pledged that he would fast track his political career once he is out of prison and may have to run for the legislature before becoming the chief executive of an unnamed state. He finally acknowledged that the legislature was responsible for writing laws, previously claiming the governor could provide that function, and that he would tackle prison reform as his key platform.
Despite previously pledging to take responsibility for his own actions, DeCastro returned to blaming others for conditions he encountered in jail. While praising the administrator who sent him to the hole for a week, or overtly flattering the guards for “just doing their jobs,” he described the policies they must follow as cruel and unfair, and not something others who may not be as strong would survive.
He explained that tears his viewers saw in court on Monday were not tears of anguish, but tears of relief at the brief freedom he encountered while being out of the hole on Monday.
DeCastro’s combined GoFundMe raised a total of $65 from Wednesday morning into Thursday. Those looking to donate to his GoFundMe campaigns can do so by visiting his YouTube channels.
