Jose “Chille” DeCastro outlined his reasoning as to why he should be released at his upcoming bail hearing in the Monday live stream aired on his channel featuring his latest recording from jail.
DeCastro compared himself to Nelson Mandella in the 13-minute audio segment, claiming to be a man of peace with no history of violence, and someone who was innocent of his alleged crimes. He distanced himself from previous statements of remorse for his actions and claimed that he was a journalist being held for telling his truths.
In his list of reasons for release that will be presented at the April 10, 2024, bail hearing, the YouTuber claimed that he has no criminality in his past and that there was no victim in his case, no restitution due nor no harmed party. He further claimed that he had been jailed for a month as a journalist.
He expressed that it was his job as a first amendment auditor to have contact with “touches with police” on a regular basis that have never resulted in his arrest. He emphasized the fact that this was his first conviction for anything, and leniency must be given for his first-time offense.
Returning to his description of himself as a man of peace, with “no history of violence ever” despite two prominent restraining orders against him, including one with allegations of violent acts taken by DeCastro against an ex-girlfriend.
After again emphasizing his clean criminal record, he stated that he had two upcoming court appearances in Nevada that he needed to appear at. One in Good Springs, Nevada, for a ticket for an illegal U-Turn and another for his February 14, 2024, arrest for obstructing an officer in Las Vegas.
DeCastro, strangely, brought up his warrants in Ohio, one for fleeing charges of trespassing, and broke some news of his own as he claimed to have hired an attorney who was actively working to resolve that case.
The YouTuber stressed his close ties to the Las Vegas community, with his “entire family” living in the area. He claimed to be a youth wrestling coach and was well known for his altruistic efforts in helping the community.
Finally, DeCastro claimed that his jailing has hurt his business and that decreased sales have resulted in him having to let one of his six full time employees go. Then claimed that he would be firing another employee later this week. He claimed it was unfair that he could not maintain his business while in jail and the punishment was directly impacting his employees.
DeCastro is scheduled to appear at his April 10, 2024, appeals court bond hearing. The hearing will be live streamed by Our Nevada Judges YouTube channel, sponsored by the Welsh News Network.
