In an expected move, Jose “Chille” DeCastro released a hype video on Sunday, attacking Judge Ann Zimmerman, who is hearing his bond hearing, and featuring segments liberally stolen from Patrick D’Arcy’s series of Anti-Chille videos.
The 25-minute plays down the hype of the bond hearing, with the focus being on Judge Zimmerman’s lack of “interest in justice” and paints Zimmerman as an unfair arbiter of his fate who only acted as she had her feelings hurt, instead of the law.
Brian “Here’s the Deal” Young, speaking on behalf of DeCastro, called Zimmerman someone drunk with her own power and attempted to tear down the entire court system as unjust as it blocks the fundamental rights of freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
Young then goes on to play selections from D’Arcy’s videos that both support arguments for DeCastro’s appeal, while simultaneously attacking D’Arcy as someone who represents the system and must not be listened to.
It also attacks DeCastro’s attorney, Michael Mee, as incompetent and someone who needed to step aside and allow the YouTuber to represent himself in the case, despite the Judge’s ruling against it. While later seemingly admitting that DeCastro needs legal help in his appeals, it paints a picture of DeCastro as a freedom fighter who knows the law better than all others.
All in all, the video offers no remorse, no justification for changed behavior that would favor an appeal, and in the end attacks the judge, the criminal court system, society in America. It offers nothing to work with to change minds, other than the point that “the system is bad.”
The video ends up painting the appeal as hopeless, with the entire court system stacked against DeCastro, but ends with a call to action to DeCastro’s fans to show up at the courtroom on Monday to support him in his quest for justice.
