In a new twist to an old case, Jason Dollarhide was ordered on Wednesday by Judge Patrick R. Wyrick to file within 20 days the amended complaint he had previously sought and was granted the ability to file the amended complaint.
Dollarhide’s attorney, James A. Conrady, had previously filed leave to amend Dollarhide’s complaint on July 23, 2023, with responses coming in from various defendants until the end of August of 2023.
The filing then sat until March 29 of 2024, when Judge Wyrick granted Dollarhide leave to amend the complaint with the caveat that Dollarhide’s new amended complaint either must omit the opposing defendants or contain specific factual allegations as to each opposing defendant so they would be on fair notice of the claims against them.
Dollarhide’s original complaint stemmed from an incident where he was arrested in a deer watching area of a Oklahoma national park when he refused to identify himself to a State Patrol officer. An altercation occurred between the two men and multiple police entities arrived on the scene to help subdue Dollarhide.
In his original handwritten filing, Dollarhide was seeking $250,000,000.00 in damages. His attorney submitted a revised first amended complaint that would reduce that amount to $250,000.00 but that proposed complaint lacked direct complaints against any of the named defendants except State Patrol officer Dennis Dickens.
Compounding the issue, Dollarhide has been in a Norman, Oklahoma, jail since July of 2023 and is awaiting trial on various non-related charges. Jose “Chille” DeCastro, who had been providing financial assistance to Dollarhide, has also been in jail in Las Vegas, Nevada, since last month after being found guilty of interfering with a traffic stop and obstructing a police officer.
It is unclear if Dollarhide’s attorney is still working the case or if Dollarhide has been properly informed of the Judge’s orders. The jailed YouTuber has until April 30, 2024, to file his amended complaint.
