Reporter Grant Smith Ellis reported on Wednesday that Attorney Marc Randazza’s last-minute appeal of the 200-foot “buffer zone” preventing protests around the courthouse in the Karen Read murder trial has been denied.
This is the second time that Attorney Randazza has attempted to intervene in the murder case on behalf of supporters of Read and blogger “Turtleboy” Aidan Kearney. Randazza previously had attempted to intervene on their behalf at the last motion hearing, allegedly charging Read/Turtleboy supporters $6,000 apparently not knowing that outside attorneys were not allowed to intervene in criminal cases.
Randazza allegedly charged the same supporters $7,500.00 to intervene again on Wednesday to an appeals court which rejected his petition due to lack of standing. The court directed Randazza to the Massachusetts’s Supreme Judicial Court to hear his petition.
With just three working days until the start of the Karen Read murder trail on April 16, it is unlikely that Randazza will have his petition heard before the start of the trail.
