Great White Tracker Goes Dark
Viewers of Kate Peter’s live stream on Sunday, November 27, 2022, may have caught Peter reading a portion of my Mid-Season wrap up article which featured tongue-in-cheek observations of the major players in current stories. While Peter’s coverage was complimentary, there has been some negative feedback through the grapevine about this article.
First and foremost, this reporter and website are not beyond criticism. I have open e-mail, discord messaging and even my telephone number to those involved in the situations that I cover (Personally involved in a story and don’t have the number? E-mail or message me and I’ll give it to you).
All articles on this site are openly sourced with links to sources provided where possible. All observations of reactions from the viewers are also publicly available. But You must put the time in, walk around, see what different creators are saying, see how opinions are flying beyond the tiny echo chambers we tend to put ourselves in. I do this on a regular basis through my hundreds of hours of activity on Discord and through my coverage of live streams and incorporate those observations into my reporting.
The most talked about aspect of the article was the use of a vulgarity in the description of Merb. I stand by that description as this is indeed the most common term used by friend, follower and foe in describing Merb. His views are often incredibly out of step with the community at large (rightfully or wrongly), and he’s apparently surrounded himself with an echo chamber of like minded individuals who promote the same thoughts, opinions and insults while in his presence.
Merb is absolutely astounding in his ability to break down the laws in bite sized pieces and give his opinions on cases. His videos where he does not have a personal bias show off how good he can be when he focuses in on a neutral subject (though he does need to work on his audio as often his greatest works are marred by very low volume levels). In those videos where he displays a bias, his statements on the law are solid, even when he holds the subject of the video in contempt. Unlike someone like Discussing Laws, he doesn’t attempt to shape the law to match his subject matter or distort it in defense of those situations he’s passionate about.
That said, Merb remains “Merb.” For good or for bad. He gives as much as he gets, to quote my Grandmother, and his opinions and thoughts will remain true to his character, even if they don’t always play in Peoria.
