Believe it or not, there was a time when Glenn Cerio dominated every news cycle in the First Amendment auditing community.
From 2021 until mid-2022, Cerio was everywhere. His over-the-top antics in his audits and his pushing of the line with police officers, daring to hurl abuse and accusations and to press his first amendment rights to the point where “auditing” and “shouting actual abuse” blurred.
His antics leading to his arrests were legendary. He was once the most watched member of the first amendment auditing community through the number of reaction videos devoted to those antics.
But, as with everything in life, things changed for Cerio following a series of arrests in early 2022. Facing real prosecution, Cerio backed away from auditing as his legal woes mounted. At the end of 2022, he reported for a brief jail sentence in Washington State and effectively disappeared once released.
Glenn Cerio Reports to Jail
Rumors swirled throughout the early part of the year about his whereabouts. He was rumored to have moved to Alaska for a time and had quit auditing. His popularity waned during this time due to a lack of new content and the domination of the news cycle by Jose “Chille” DeCastro. Cerio became an afterthought to most during the first half of the year.
Glenn Cerio Mental Health Questioned
The first indications of a Cerio return came in June of 2023 as he released a strange series of videos attacking his sister Jessica and featuring a brief confrontation between the two at an unidentified airport that resulted in Jessica filing a police report on her brother.
Cerio Live Streams in Seattle
Cerio eventually returned to live streaming on his Auditing the USA YouTube channel. Cerio’s new video series saw him wandering the streets of Seattle in the pre-dawn hours, attempting to film emergency response scenes and engage with emergency workers and police officers.
At first, Cerio attempted to provoke his critics by bragging that all the charges against him were dropped and that he was going to return to his old ways of auditing. But, as the year progressed and the attention failed to return to the auditor, he grew more somber and sedate in his live streams.
Good Citizen Glenn Cerio?
In Cerio’s more recent live streams, the YouTuber barely engages with anyone. He typically calmly stands out of the way of police and emergency workers, only engaging with them in a mostly respectful way after their work at the scene of the incident he is filming has finished.
While there are flashes of the old Cerio, a baiting and provoking incident with EMTs in September stands as a prime example of the “old” Cerio, his most recent live streams have been devoid of the controversy that once made him the most dominant force in the first amendment auditing community.
His viewers have all but abandoned him during this time. Even his infamous backer “Luna” fails to show up for his early morning live streams. The coverage he used to receive from reaction channels is all-but gone due to the random early morning scheduling of his live streams and his habit of deleting the streams after receiving any sort of criticism of his actions.
As 2024 approaches, Cerio has been tamed. Either by age and time or fear of police retribution for outrageous acts, he’s not the same man that once dominated headlines. Instead, he’s fallen into this strange pattern of roaming the streets of Seattle in the early morning hours, filming what he can, then disappearing into the night without a trace.
His channel’s growth has stopped, and his video drops have become increasingly rare. His more recent videos have shown that he seems to be more reflective of his actions and has a willingness to stop being an ass for clicks and views.
Classifying Cerio as a “winner” or a “loser” of 2023 may be difficult to some as he’s apparently experienced tremendous personal growth at the expense of the click and views that powered his once domination of the first amendment auditing community.
