it is 9:56PM on the 5th of December 2021.
I couldn’t go the year without posting something.
Got laid off from Oracle in March, after 6 months of being a real employee (after 2 years of contracting).
A few months of unemployment brought me to a contracting job where I work on a project for one of the companies I used to parody in the old TechTV days.
And I’m recovering from having a new set of tubes put in my ears two days ago so I’m still slightly wonky and talking an awful lot more than I’ve been comfortable doing for a long time now.
My big news and big announcements is that I’m filling in some of the holes that make up the patchwork Jim. As you may have noticed, I’m putting the TechTV strips back up for the first time in over a decade and I’m republishing the old Ring Report TV Updates that made up so much of my life in the 90’s and early 2000’s. They’re whole. I’m not taking out works of people who may not have liked me in 1996.
I’ve also added It Came from YouTube. My lame old person attempt at listening to new to me music. It’s been daily for a while now. I can’t say it’s a success, but it’s not really for YOU, it’s for me. I need to stay active and learn new things because I’ve been listening to my own beat for a while now and it’s time to learn someone else’s.
Embrace change, yadda yadda. There’s a point to this somewhere.
I guess it goes back to being the Patchwork Jim. With all those missing holes that I’m filling in and hopefully bringing back to me.
I put out something like 50 or 60 comic books that I have in cold storage and for a hundred thousand excuses, they’re not up. Mainly because they were funny at the time but I’m no longer comfortable with the humor. You can cancel me over them, go ahead, but how can you cancel something that only 6 people really remember and maybe 2 care about?
So my goal now is to fix that.
You’ve heard this before if you’ve been reading.
Retro, Retro, Retro is the only thing in “Cannon” and I’ll explain it in the new version of the Media Elite in 2022.
Then Universe.
Then Starshine Downs.
Then @Insanity.
Then Amazing Incredible.
I think that’s all of them.
I can’t tell you how it’s going to go. I can say that Retro, Retro, Retro, no matter how many times I redid the story, never worked. So we’re not going to fall into that trap again.
Right now the idea is 6 page shorts instead of full paged comics. I intend to start running them weekly after the final batches of the TechTV strips finish up.
And that’s my news. A rinse/repeat of things I’ve written ages ago.
Did you really expect anything else?
Jim
