Another Sunday night and I’m in front of the computer again waiting for my last shift to start before I can go to bed. Tomorrow is a big day: I need to get off my butt and get the tractor out and move at least 5 loads of wood with the big cart. We’ve had frost the past couple of nights and I’ve got 2 huge deliveries of wood sitting on the front lawn that have to move before the first snows come.
Of course, I’m sick with a sinus infection. For those who worry, I already have a “getting to know you” session with a new doctor on Tuesday. I’ll whine to him then. Congestion, ear pain, loss of hearing, you know, the usual. I’d think it was the flu but I don’t feel like barfing my brains out just yet.
My dad is still in the hospital. They don’t know when he’s coming home. They’re trying to find the cause of his shaking attacks by weaning him off all of his meds then bringing him back up on them and trying to find out what’s causing them. Right now the EKG is normal so they have no idea what’s going on with him. He’s in intensive care right now and when they were taking him there on Friday he was apparently so out of it that he attacked a doctor. I haven’t been able to see him yet, he’s two hours away and I can’t afford to lose hours at work, so it’s hard to hear about what’s going on without actually knowing what’s going on. I just hope for the best.
The rebirth of this site is coming along slowly. Today was spent putting all the old videos up on YouTube. It’s been quite a while since I’ve used it and it’s interesting how the system has changed in the past couple of years. A throw away video I did with the Intern dancing to a short sample of a song was flagged for a copyright issue and now it can’t be displayed in Germany. Go figure. Why Germany and not the rest of the world? I’m not sure. Another got flagged because the generic music that came with the video editor which grants license for public use in videos also comes with pre-defined ads on YouTube. I’m not in any trouble, but it was kind of strange seeing the flag come up since it was music licensed for projects.
I think the main menu is set once I stick up poetry and the TechTV sections. I still have to figure out how to convert the TechTV comics and how to display them. I can’t really do a blurb and then a “read more” with them because they’re in HTML tables that can’t be broken up. I may end up linking to a page and then the page navigation takes you to the next pages. You won’t be able to pick individual issues as quickly, but if you’re searching for something, then hey, there’s that handy dandy search option.
It took a couple of days to get used to Joomla but it looks like I have it down now. Things are starting to come together and I’m glad you’re still with me. With that, I’m off to another shift.
