Early in the morning and I’m on another trip. Not too far from home this time yet it’s still a long enough trip for me to get the butterflies about the drive home today. It has been interesting enough and my stomach is a mess from too much junk food.
As always on these trips I’ve had surprises. One of the worst was that Cat the cat had peed in the small suitcase I had borrowed from my mom. He has a history of this and now the clothes that were in that bag all smell of Cat pee. What’s funny is that when I get home my mom will deny smelling anything and continue to use the bag since her sense of denial is a lot stronger than any sense of smell.
I guess I have a strong sense of denial as well. I really have to get off my butt tomorrow and this weekend. We have the last load of wood coming next week and you know what? Hauling wood sucks as much this year as it has every year. My body gets screwed up doing it, I’m exhausted afterwards and it only leads to the next 6 months of me having to haul it for my dad as he can’t manage his supply indoors that well.
I guess the wood inside is one thing he has control over. He keeps the downstairs at a good 75F degrees all winter long so he goes through wood faster than I go through denials about getting a real job. Life is nutty these days.
I’m going to try to lay down for an hour or so before officially getting “up.” I have SO much to clear off of my TIVO when I get home that it isn’t funny. I did get to relax some on this trip and I finished a book on a bunch of MIT kids who beat Vegas. I didn’t really get into the two ghost stories books I bought while I was here because frankly, the easiest way to get me to sleep with the lights on is to be in a creepy hotel room while reading a ghost story book. Just not a good idea.
On that note, last one reading gets to play Supertramp’s “Goodbye Stranger” at my memorial service should I die on this trip home.
Be bad.
