If you’re reading this blog entry you can pretty much see that I’m moving away from WordPress powering my entire site and moving most of my text publications (blogs, poetry and newsletters) to their own WordPress areas entirely disconnected from each other. I’m doing this because while WordPress is limiting in a lot of ways, having a massive database of posts is one thing it does well and I can incorporate the databases into the new main site design pretty flawlessly. While it’s giving up the freedom of a one site fits all approach with a uniform design, I really didn’t want to have to encode all of these blogs by hand and I’m going to use the power of WordPress to run the back end databases of these posts.
It does, however, mean that I’m going to be doing a lot of cutting and pasting in the near future to get all of the blog entries (thousands dating back to 2001), into the new WordPress areas. I have time. We’ve had cutbacks at work so I’m missing nearly a third of my hours without warning. Not very happy about the situation right now, but the less said the better in this day and age. Your presence on social media is always noted so if you want to keep a job, and you’re not directly related to your boss, you’re probably going to want to keep details and rants to a minimum. I will say that I’m always open to more work or a different job if approached, so if you have something in mind, please click the links and approach me.
The blog entries themselves are going to have the dates of the original posts and times as I can find them. So if you see a post talking about early morning or late night things and the time of the posts don’t match up, well, yeah, that’s just part of the cut and paste process. The current batch are just being transferred by hand from the old data base and they’ll have the time stamp from whenever I post them as the original stamps are probably lost to history. I do want to note that while my memory of events and my memory of places is unmatched, my memory of writing them down is not. Please don’t question or grill me on entries. When I write, I forget. It’s that simple. Most of the time I write to get things out and I don’t have any memory of them later. So please, you’re getting a glimpse into the deepest and darkest aspects of my life at times and I really don’t want a quiz or have them held against me as I really don’t remember most of them.
Please note that I may be eliminating some of the dryer posts. You really don’t need site update posts to sites that no longer exist, for example, or rants about comic changes that didn’t pan out and if you’re looking for deviant things or evidence to get me kicked out of the club, you probably won’t find it here. Yes, I do mean you, stalker from the North.
So there are your updates and disclaimers, hey, it’s a my first blog post of the year, but at least I’m back for shits and giggles now and again.
