It is one of those days. It has been sunny then cloudy then rainy then sunny and rainy at the same time. Because of it, I don’t feel like doing anything. Indeed I had a whole list of things I wanted to get done today, but the blahs hit at 8:30AM and I haven’t found a way to get around them just yet.
I want to congratulate the one and only Brit Brat (aka Depressed Brit) upon her high school graduation. We just celebrated the four year anniversary of this site and I can’t believe that the little girl who used to pop into TechTV chat is all growed up and about to enter the world of adulthood. I probably should go into the many many reasons why I’m proud of her and thankful for her friendship, but I’ll just leave it at this: on many occasions there wouldn’t be new strips or new content on this site without her. She’s my reader and my muse when it comes to this site. If she gets it or thinks it’s funny, then it usually is worth pursuing. She also puts up with an extraordinary amount of big brotherly tormenting on my part (she is on restriction until the year 3749 after all), and has yet to snap and kill me.
So congrats, Brit Brat, now make us all proud as you head to college.
Right now I’m watching the Jackie Chan version of ‘Around the World in 80 Days.’ It’s quite mindless. Lots of fight scenes and there’s a 1970’s Dr. Whoish vibe to the humor. I had been avoiding it because all the reviews were bad, but it’s a surprise that I haven’t turned it off as of yet. Of course since it’s memorial day weekend, there’s nothing worthwhile on TV anyway, so mindless is king.
My friend Summer and I saw Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith last week and I was surprised: It wasn’t half bad at all. Lucas listened to the complaints, eliminated Jar Jar (he had 2 seconds of on-screen time), reduced the dialog (Lucas really needs to be scripted), and upped the fight scenes. It was a giant roller coaster ride that tied everything together
The only thing missing (spoiler warning) was the return of Qui Gon Jinn on screen. Yoda pulls Obi Wan aside and says something about cheating death and talking to an old friend. It’s totally rushed and is supposed to explain why both Yoda and Ben vanish when they die in later movies. It’s clear that Qui Gon has been talking with Yoda, but dammit, they should have said something MORE about why they vanished when they died but now I’m babbling like the big star wars geek that I am. End Spoiler Warning.
Summer and I watched ‘Garden State’ the day before seeing episode 3 and really, Natalie Portman rocked in that movie. When given a script set in reality, she shines, it’s a shame so many people have only seen her miserable performances in the Star Wars movies. Give the girl a script and she rules. RULES.
And with that note, dinner is over and my movie is wrapping up. I do have that list of things I want to get done tonight, but we all know I’ll be playing “Untold Legends” on my PSP until the early morning hours again.
Such is life.

PS For those who viewed my trip pictures, I didn’t go insane. Crissy 2 was standing in for my friend Crissy who couldn’t go. So instead of a stuffed monkey, imagine it’s an evil woman from Ohio in all the pictures. Though trying to get her in the star wars onsie would have been kinda kinky… YIKES!
