- On the Last SNL parody, the point was made that whenever she doesn’t know what to do, Palin resorts to being “too cute for words.” She tried it tonight and poling indicates that the overwhelming majority of Americans felt that she was the “more likable” person in the debate. Though the same poll gave the “who won” question to Biden.
- The point of a Vice Presidential debate is to put your guy over while knocking the other guy. Biden did this. He restrained the attack dog mode a bit and stuck to the theme of attacking McCain and linking McCain to Bush. That was the game plan. Palin’s game plan was to survive. She did, but it’s kind of sad that after the first few questions, I briefly forgot McCain’s name as they were all about HER, not her “boss” and even CNN pointed out that she was setting herself up for a run in 2012.
- Watching the CNN little instant-graph of undecided voters was again, compelling. It was weird that women did not react better to Palin. On average, her scores with women voters were far below that of men. She lost both a number of times though, with her statement of Obama/Biden putting up a “white flag” in Iraq falling flat and overall getting the most negative reactions from those viewers. Biden wasn’t perfect but there were times when he scored off the charts with women. It was consistantly a plus for him.
- In the poll I mentioned earlier, Biden was “the most like a politician.” I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.
So let the spin begin. :X
