Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s plan to use his prison telephone privileges to make YouTube content hit a snag on Wednesday as the Clark County Detention Center terminated a telephone call he was on Brian “Here’s the Deal” Young that was being live streamed to YouTube.
The call was actually the second of two calls featured on DeCastro’s YouTube page on Wednesday, as DeCastro’s assistant released an extended phone message from DeCastro that was labeled as his March 26, address.
In that video, DeCastro talks extensively about finding focus and his efforts to help other inmates cope with the madness of multi-hour lockdowns, and promising action to reform the prison system to allow for more free time for prisoners and more access to learning opportunities.
DeCastro went on to lash out at Judge Ann Zimmerman, who sentenced him to 180 days in jail last week and who will hear his bond hearing on Monday. The incarcerated YouTuber said that he would punish Zimmerman through the use of the press for ignoring “rule of law” and sentencing an innocent man to jail.
DeCastro Jailed in Nevada
Brian “Here’s the Deal” Young followed up on DeCastro’s comments on a live stream held on DeCastro’s YouTube channel immediately following the premiere of the March 26 address. Young pulled up a profile of Zimmerman during the broadcast and questioned how she could sleep at night knowing that she sentenced an innocent man to jail for doing “nothing wrong.
Young would later return with a second live stream on Wednesday, this time featuring a phone call live from jail with DeCastro.
Before taking DeCastro’s call, Young lashed out at DeCastro’s attorney in his criminal case, Michael Mee, and called for the immediate jailing of both Judge Zimmerman and Officer Branden Borque, who arrested DeCastro last year on charges of interfering with a traffic stop and obstructing an officer.
Once on with Young, DeCastro thanked Young for his efforts to keep his YouTube channel and business alive while he has been incarcerated. He claimed that while he had 8 hours of free time available each day, he was spending 20+ hours in his bed each day as he was refusing to participate in jail activities.
DeCatro complained about the small amount of food he received each day for meals, including eating a tiny glob of peanut butter for breakfast as he refused to eat the offered jelly and white bread as he believed ingesting the items would impact his blood pressure.
The YouTuber then launched into a plea to his fans to buy his new “Free Chille” t-shirts off of his website and either wear those shirts or make their own “Free Chille” shirts to wear to his bond hearing on Monday.
DeCastro’s tone went darker as he demanded his followers pack the courtroom to show Judge Zimmerman that he was a leader “in real life” and to show her that wrongful arrests and convictions would not go unnoticed by the public.
The YouTuber was in the middle of extended accusations against Judge Zimmerman when a message that the phone call was being terminated by the facility played and the line went dead.
In the aftermath of the termination of the phone call, Young wondered aloud what DeCastro did to have the call terminated. He worried that DeCastro might have threatened the Judge but ruled insults out as the cause of the termination.
Young would go on to remind everyone that the funds from DeCastro’s two current GoFundMe campaigns, despite promises from DeCastro, would go entirely to his criminal defense purposes with “leftover” funds going to DeCastro associates after DeCastro was released from jail.
