In a stunning revelation on the sixth day of Karen Read’s trial for allegedly killing boyfriend John O’Keefe, photos have been released featuring Read’s car with a cracked right taillight taken on the morning of the alleged murder.
Reporter Grant Smith Ellis shared a photo released by the court Tuesday morning that was reportedly taken by police at 8AM on January 29, 2022, hours after Read is alleged to have hit O’Keefe with her Lexus, leaving him to die in the snow.

The links to the digital exhibits filed in the case of accused murderer #KarenRead, as to the lonesome death of #JohnOKeefe, have started to be published by the court. Earlier today, a shocking photo, of Karen’s taillight broken, at 8am on 1/29/22, ended all of the… https://t.co/3sgdMkl3wN pic.twitter.com/9Kj09UbzVh
The photos clearly show damage to the right taillight of the car along with a piece of the taillight lying in the snow near the car.
This development theoretically ends the defense’s allegations that Read’s taillight was smashed while in the custody of Canton, Massachusetts, police officers later in the day as they took custody of the vehicle. However, unofficial propaganda master for the defense, Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney has come out against the photos, claiming that they were either doctored or faked by police.
Tuesday’s hearing also proved problematic for the defense as what was promised to Judge Beverly J. Cannone as a brief cross examination by the defense of Canon Police Seargeant Michael Lank turned into a several hour slog.
Attorney Alan Jackson pressed Lank over his friendships with members of the Albert family who were not present at the crime scene over incidents where he’s helped both out over the years. Jackson was attempting to show that Lank was a loyal soldier to the Albert family who coordinated a coverup with the Alberts when he came into work early on the day of the murder in a heavy snowstorm.
His continued cross examination of Lank over events not related to the crime Read is accused of took up most of the day, a scheduled half day in the case, and seemed to some like a deliberate attempt to hold a fishing expedition rather than an actual cross examination.
The Karen Read murder trial continues later today.
