QUOTE OF THE WEEK by PATTERN99
“Ric Flair has more moves than baseball players have saliva.”
– Larry Zybszko, commenting on a REAL legend!
WRESTLING NEWS
RANDY SAVAGE allegedly received a lacerated tongue this week on MONDAY NIGHT RAW this week when a planned summit to settle his friendship with CRUSH turned into a terrible attack by the crazed Hawaiian, Mr. Fuji, and WWF Champion YOKOZUNA.
Savage obviously sensed things were a bit weird when his “good friend” Crush arrived at the arena and was immediately greeted by BOBBY “THE BRAIN” HEENAN. You could tell it in his silence through out the show as he only popped in once or twice to bash that HH GUY before arriving at the ring to confront his former friend.
Fans, on the other hand, missed out on everything until Crush came to the ring with MR. FUJI. Crush immediately grabbed the microphone an announced that he had ended his friendship with Savage when Savage did not save him from multiple “bonzai drops” from YOKOZUNA earlier in the year in a match on Monday Night Raw.
He went on th claim that BOBBY HEENAN & MR. FUJI made him “see the light” and that Fuji’s wise ancestors own all of the big hotels on the island and know the value of real friendship.
Savage came retorted by sighting that without the fans Crush would be “nothing” and that by going with Fuji, he turned his back on the fans and America as well. The two shook hands as Crush apparently heeded Savage’s words and they left the ring together.
Crush apparently had second thoughts as they hit the floor, he raised Savage’s arm up in a sign of victory and clobbered him with a huge clothesline. Waves of hate could be seen emitting from his face and he went on to press slam Savage on the fence outside the ring before letting WWF Champion YOKOZUNA, along with JIM CORNETTE, finish off the macho man with a bonzai drop before referees and WWF officials could come to his rescue.
Word from the WWF to the Macho Man’s condition varies from show to show, with hosts claiming everything from that he’ll be back next week to his career may be over. He was missing from WWF shows this week but is expected to return to the announcer’s booth next week.

JOHN AREZZI’S CONVENTION 10/23/93 by Will Wiehe
Today I attended John Arezzi’s “Weekend of Champions” convention held at the Ramada Hotel near LaGuardia Airport. I had a great time & met a number of wrestlers & fans. Unfortunately I did not meet any friends from my On-Line services there.
At the convention were Terry Funk, Medusa, Greg Valentine, Johnny Valentine (Greg’s dad), Kevin Sullivan, WOMAN (Kevin’s wife Nancy), Sherri Martel, Sabu, Konan, Jake Roberts with his snake, Candy Divine, Ax of Demolition, Angel, The Power Twins, & wrestlers from SMW & other smaller groups.
I got autographs of most of the wrestlers & had my picture taken with some of them as well. My pictures were taken with Sherri Martel, WOMAN, Medusa (holding hands no less <G>), Terry Funk (he wanted my photo be taken with me wearing his hat which I did), & Candy Divine. I did not ask Terry Funk about him appearing at Survivor Series & even if I did he would not tell me as he did not let anyone there know of his plans regarding the WWF & the Survivor Series.
When I got to Terry Funk’s table I told him Ric Flair was my favorite wrestler he signed his autograph “To: Will, I’m a better wrestler than Ric Flair is.” above his name. He did say I needed a better wrestler as my favorite & I told him Ric Flair is God’s gift to wrestling. That left him speechless. One again in saying I need to have a different wrestler as a favorite I told Terry anyone is better than that HH GUY & he agreed saying, “Yes you’re right. DEFINITELY!”
I did pick up a SMW tape while I was there. It was a tape of their “Wildest Matches”. I’ve yet to play this tape as I just got it but I’ll let everyone know how good it is. Also given out as part of the “Super ticket” was a tape of highlights from last year’s convention.
There were several tables of memorabilia including back issues of “WRESTLING GONG”, published in Japan, & a number of vendors selling back issues of various American wrestling magazines & wrestling programs. There were also a few people with wrestling videos including Japan, SMW, USWA, & AAA as well as WCW & the WWF.
All in all I had a great time & if John has another one next year I hope to be there again as well. A very nice convention which got started nearly an hour late but the wait was worth it & I believe everyone, like me, had a fun time as well.

Then RHODES caught AUSTIN with a cradle for the win but AUSTIN made off with the belt . . . the NASTY BOYS regained the WORLD TAG-TEAM TITLES from TOO COLD SCORPIO & MARCUS BAGWELL when SAGS hit SCORPIO with a boot & KNOBS scored the pin . . . FLAIR was disqualified when he used RUDE’S foreign object to try to score a pin . . . the SPIN-THE-WHEEL- MAKE-THE-DEAL MATCH was a TEXAS DEATH MATCH. RULES: NO DQ, FALLS DON”T COUNT, 30 SEC BREAK BETWEEN FALLS & FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE. IF YOU ARE NOT ON YOUR FEET 10 SECONDS AFTER THE 30 SEC BREAK YOU LOSE THE MATCH. You’ll have to see this one for your self! IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! VADER overcame CACTUS JACK when HARLEY RACE used a STUN GUN to knock down JACK for the 10 second limit. A truly unbelievable classic. Both men were lacerated, chairs flew & there was even a table in the middle of the ring!!! All & all this match made it worth ordering.
FROM THE RUMOR MILL with Wreslngref
Vacation may have taken me away from the Rumor Mill for the last couple weeks, but that still hasn’t shut it down! News of major defections from the WCW are once again starting to surface, and on the wrestling boards, it was even said that at the SURVIVOR SERIES, JERRY LAWLER’S mystery team would be comprised of soon-to-be-former WCW stars, but I’m here to tell you the real scoop! Lawler may have pulled a big surprise by staying in the WWF, and he’s brought three other USWA wrestlers under the big lights. JEFF JARRETT, BRIAN CHRISTOPHER and TERRY FUNK are coming in and will be the King’s Knights at the Series. Other big WWF news has SHAWN MICHAELS returning. Michaels, who walked out a few weeks ago and had it covered under the guise of a suspension, will be back in about three weeks, and is currently wrestling in the USWA. In an interview by Michaels which will air soon, he said “I don’t need wrestling, wrestling needs me!” I don’t know about the entire sport of wrestling, but the WWF would sure hurt without him! As expected, Michaels will be feuding with RAZOR RAMON for the Intercontinental title. MCMAHON finally made a good move by keeping what could possibly be the biggest draw since that HH Guy. Speaking of the HH Guy is something that the MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE has been doing a lot of lately. Finally bringing to the small screen what he’s been saying in locker rooms for a long time, Savage really tore apart the legend. Savage still has very bitter feelings from when ELIZABETH divorced him, and that HH Guy let her live with him and his family. Savage is the reason behind that HH Guy’s black eye that everyone saw at SummerSlam. In WCW news, morale is once again getting lower as the crowds keep getting smaller. Even in their backyard of Atlanta, GA, they only drew 800 people. Because of things like this, it’s reported that the WCW backbone STING is looking for a way out of his contract so he can defect to the WWF. The WCW has some really great talent in their roster, now if only they could get the attention they deserve… One way that the WCW is trying to spread their influence is by bringing in MEAN GENE OCKERLAND as a ringside interviewer and WCW hotline announcer! Mean Gene had to wait until his contract with the WWF expired, but has already taped his first interviews, getting an extremely warm reception from the crowd, despite calling SID VICIOUS, Sid Justice! Break out the black and white hats, because will all the turns going on in the WCW, you won’t be able to tell who is who without them! Why all these turns are coming at once remains a big mystery, but obviously someone in the WCW head office has decided to shake things up! The biggest turn comes in the form of Sid Vicious (Justice?) who is tired of having COL. ROB PARKER dealing with his new protégé, STUNNING STEVE AUSTIN! As Sid makes the turn to babyface, so does soon-to-be former HOLLYWOOD BLONDE BRIAN PILLMAN! During an interview with the Blondes, Parker comes out and starts talking to Steve Austin, and Pillman gets annoyed to the point that he starts pounding on Parker! As soon as that happens, Austin starts pounding on Pillman! This sets up the feud between Pillman and Austin, and unless Austin beats DUSTIN RHODES for the U.S. strap, watch for a lot of Austin wins. Otherwise, Pillman will dominate with DQ wins, giving him a push as well. Here’s one out of the WWF play back from many years back! Bring in a wrestler, make him a face and if the fans don’t like him, turn him to heel. In case you haven’t heard and you’re one of the many fans who hate PRETTY PAUL ROMA as a Horsemen, here’s some news that should cheer you up! Roma WILL be turning on partner ARN ANDERSON, setting up their feud, and possibly disbanding the Horsemen until the next incarnation. I’m not sure how or when it happens, but expect it soon because those matches are already on the WCW booking sheets! Lots of injuries make HALLOWEEN HAVOC look risky, but overall has the potential for a great card! By the time you read this you’ll have already seen the results, so I’m not going to go into the predicted happenings on here. In independent news, the only thing of noteworthy importance is the WWF has asked MEDUSA to come in off the circuit and feud with LUNA VACHON, but so far, no response. That does it for this week! Remember to check here first for any news breaking information concerning Survivor Series, the next WCW PPV event that should be played out only a day apart from the Series, more on the Sting controversy, the Gold Belt controversy and more!
NOTES FROM THE MAD DOG
Hmm, I’m remembering the old adage “History repeats itself” as I look back on the RANDY SAVAGE incident this week. After making some serious anti-HH GUY comments Savage suffered an attack by CRUSH that seriously resembled Savage’s attack on that very same HH GUY years ago when the MEGAPOWERS split. Could this setup be VINNIE JR.’S tribute to that HH GUY?
Am I seeing more than there is with this one, or is there more? As always, E-MAIL responses to me by 4 PM Eastern each Sunday night in order to be considered to be included in The Ring Report!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK,
MADDOGJMF & Company!
