YouTuber Audit Them announced on his Monday live stream that he was planning on holding drawings for prizes in order to encourage his viewers to “redress their government” by taking part in brigading campaigns organized by his YouTube channel.
The YouTuber’s comments came during a live stream in which he had the e-mail address for the FOIA officer from the Chicago Mayor’s Office on screen and he was openly encouraging his fans to complain to the officer about a recorded conversation he had played on the air in which she ended up hanging up on him.
Audit Them was following up on a denied FOIA request from the office in which he requested the last 50 image attachments received in e-mails to the mayor’s office. When he called the FOIA officer, she explained that there was no easy way to fulfill his request as the office receives thousands of e-mails a day and she would need a date range and a file type to perform a search.
The YouTuber became angry and uncooperative with the FOIA officer, refusing to provide a date range or specific file type and began to badger the officer about signage that should be on display at the mayor’s office. When the woman explained that they didn’t have a specific space available for such a display, he became increasingly difficult towards the Officer and the Officer terminated the call.
In his now usual practice, Audit Them began to call all 50 members listed in the staff directory in relation to the mayor’s office. As he was waiting on hold during one of the calls, he announced that he would soon be holding drawings for prizes in order to encourage his fans to “redress” their government and participate in his harassment campaigns.
To be eligible for the proposed drawings, fans would need to send an e-mail to the person he encouraged “redressing” of and then forward him the e-mail after it was sent. Audit Them, now alternating between calling himself “George” and “John,” was unclear of what he would offer for prizes or when the drawings would be held.
Audit Them continued his overt religious references throughout his broadcast, at one point claiming that all the attorney generals in Illinois considered him “god sent.” He also threatened to FOIA request the water bills of anyone who stood against him in government, exposing their home addresses in one broadcast and then their full names in another as he felt that would not qualify as “doxing.”
