Activist and YouTuber Regan Benson live streamed from the Englewood, Colorado, Police Station on Thursday, this time to report that a group of meddling children filmed a music video in an Englewood Park two years ago.
Benson started her broadcast with her phone recording a second phone that was playing the video from YouTube, featuring a group of teens rapping while holding alcohol, marijuana, and guns. While she admitted that the video had been released two years ago, she claimed it was an obvious double standard as homeless are being ejected from the parks in Englewood for lesser offenses.
The YouTuber dramatically stated that a “hit” would probably be taken out on her by the group of teens since they were still actively posting content and she was reporting them on YouTube for illegal activities. She added the group to her growing list of enemies who are out to “kill” her in the streets.
Benson made her report of the group’s video to Sergent Adam Wright, who handled her previous report at the Englewood police station. Wright patiently heard her demands to have the children prosecuted for the rap video and Wright started a police report based on her demands.
While again subdued from her usual highly confrontational approach to police, Benson and Wright traded barbs over her previous coverage of Wright as he said he disagreed with her assessment of him as a liar in the trash talk she had made about him in her previous live stream after Wright had left the conversation.
After making her report, Benson went outside and noticed a group of men flying drones from a baseball field attached to the police station’s parking lot. Benson declared that Englewood parks had a rule against flying drones and what the men were illegal.
Benson confronted Wright, who was bringing in a firearm that had been voluntarily turned over to police as part of a trade in program, first about the trade in program being “illegal” and then about the men illegally using the baseball field to fly drones.
Wright explained that the trade in program was legal, and he was legally allowed to take the firearm from the owner who was willingly trading it in to be destroyed. He then explained that the men in the park were taking part in a drone training course which had FAA approval and included members of the police force.
Benson spent some time performing what appeared to be a show of feigned outrage to her live stream’s side chat before ending the stream.
During the broadcast, Benson briefly broke down about the “intrusive” questions she had been asked as part of the discovery process in her two federal lawsuits against Denver. While she has apparently halted activities in the Denver area, she explained she had meant to “focus on” Englewood for a while now and that is why she has brought increased scrutiny to the city.
Benson also updated the status of Robert, the homeless man she put in a motel after finding him living on a park bench by the side of a road in Englewood. Benson said that Robert was scheduled for amputation surgery on Friday and that his podiatrist has refused to prescribe pain medication for the homeless man.
The YouTuber turned activist attacked the doctor for her decision and the national crackdown on opioid abuse. She then explained that Robert had been living with a host family but would be unable to return to the family after the surgery. At this time, she had no idea what would happen to Robert after the surgery as he would need to be bedridden until he recovered from the amputation.
Benson thanked her fans for their contributions and claimed that she was able to buy Robert a rolling scooter to immobilize his leg and allow him to get around. She then told her viewers that she would be requiring help should the hospital kick Robert out following the surgery on Friday.
This is an on-going story.
