YouTuber and self-proclaimed protector of Englewood, Colorado, Regan Benson verbally assaulted Englewood Police Officer Tim Weeks on Tuesday, accusing the officer of lying about his active investigation of a domestic violence incident.
Beson approached Officer Weeks after observing that one of the officer’s rear tail lights was malfunctioning and supposedly observing the officer break traffic rules without the use of his emergency lights and siren.
The officer explained he was investigating a vehicle-based domestic violence incident, and that the investigation did not qualify for the use of his emergency lights and sirens according to police guidelines.
Benson responded by accusing the officer of lying to her about the active investigation as he took the time to pause and talk to her instead of rushing into the Dollar Tree for descriptions of the couple involved in the incident.
Officer Weeks retorted that he had a moment to address her concerns and he acted appropriately in stopping to address her before excusing himself to return to his investigation. Benson then gave the officer a direct “warning” that driving with a broken taillight was “not okay” and that the vehicle must be taken out of service immediately following his investigation.
Benson returned to her car and spent the remainder of her impromptu livestream offering updates on various homeless people that have previously been mentioned on her live stream.
The YouTuber started with Robert, a homeless man who she has been housing in a hotel since she found him living on a bench by the side of a busy street in Englewood. Benson claimed that Robert would know on Wednesday if he would be losing his foot to frostbite.
She assured her fans that they had a schedule for Robert’s possible surgery and recovery lined up and that things would work out for the elderly homeless man as she continues to be “married to him.”
Moving on to the case of Mark, a 73-year-old homeless man who had wandered away from a woman providing care for him during the cold snap two weeks ago, Benson claimed she found the man on Monday at an Englewood Walmart.
Benson said the man claimed to have been riding trains during the time he was assumed to be missing and she gave him a $40 Walmart gift card and some bus passes along with details as to which homeless center was housing the items he had abandoned when he wandered away from his care giver.
The activist for the homeless was disappointed when Mark did not return to Walmart as promised this morning for their planned meet up and expressed hope that she would find him again as she continues her journey as protector of Englewood.
