Members of the congregation of the Christ Lutheran Church and Preschool in Valencia, California, called police on auditor PedoLibreAudits on Sunday for filming congregation members as they came and went from services.
As PedoLibreAudits went live on his channel, a female member of the congregation was in the process of trying to block his camera with her phone with two men confronted him. One of the men told the auditor that police were on the way and that a sheriff had told the man that PedoLibreAudits was part of a “group” who harassed churches every Sunday morning.
When a county sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene, he explained to the group that he could not arrest PedoLibreAudits as he was standing on the public sidewalk and filming and had every right to do so. The group asked the officer to trespass PedoLibreAudits from their parking lot, which the officer complied with, attempting to explain to PedoLibreAudits that he’d be arrested if he entered church property.
Instead of listening to the officer, PedoLibreAudits spoke over him and flipped the officer off. Instead of reacting to his actions, the officer got in his squad car, pulled out of the parking lot then turned his car to face PedoLibreAudits. He then used his external speakers to remind PedoLibreAudits that he had been trespassed and would be arrested if he set foot on church property.
Stunned at the guile displayed by the officer, PedoLibreAudits briefly spoke with a supporter who came out of the church, then walked around the block, returning to the area of the church but left after seeing no one else to interact with.
The interaction demonstrated California’s new de-escalation policies when it comes to auditors. the deputy, recognizing that PedoLibreAudits was there to get a reaction for a video, moved the members of the congregation out of audio range of PedoLibreAudits’ camera and explained to them that he could be trespassed if he came on the property but not to overreact to his actions.
PedoLibreAudits, with nothing to film, left the area, returning to his truck to update his fans of events in his life before ending the broadcast.
