Christopher “Direct D” Ruff updated his fans on his on-going attempts to stop the Gilbert, Arizona, police force from accessing his Gmail accounts on Wednesday in a nearly four-hour long livestream.
Ruff claimed that while Gilbert police successfully filed a subpoena to gain access to one of his multiple Gmail accounts, a second attempt to access another account was denied by the court. He then stated that his attorney had filed a motion to quash the first subpoena and would be seeking to prevent police access to any data they had previously obtained from accessing his account.
He also announced that he will be suing the municipality of Gilbert, but won’t be targeting individual officers in the lawsuit.
Gilbert police are investigating a leak of a criminal profile made on Ruff last year that was sent directly to Ruff by someone accessing police computer systems. Ruff then made multiple YouTube videos using the information from the profile.
Ruff also released contact information for Mesa, Arizona, police officer Dustin Hemp on his YouTube Community page on Wednesday. The YouTuber accused Hemp of threatening him with criminal charges for “filing complaints on dirty cops.”
The portion of Hemp’s email featured in the posting includes a statement that a submission to the Mesa police department had been reviewed and then chastises the reporter for greatly exaggerating whatever was reported.
Hemp does make the threat of initiating criminal charges against the sender for false reporting and tying up police resources. As Ruff’s screenshot is of a tiny portion of the letter, there is no other background material presented as to what was reported in the initial complaint.
Ruff did not call for brigading of the officer directly; he did include the officer’s publicly available e-mail address and phone number. Several of Ruff’s followers responding to the community post encouraged others to brigade the officer.
