YouTuber George “NORCAL COPWATCH” Kostal apparently self-deleted his popular YouTube channel over the weekend following videos exposing his past convictions of having sex with a child under 18 were exposed by multiple YouTuber channels.
Kostal had been riding a new wave of popularity in recent weeks with appearances on the Michael Ehline YouTube channel and by having one of his videos endorsed by Christopher “Direct D” Ruff on Ruff’s own YouTube channel.
After Kostal mentioned an arrest for apparently carrying pepper spray in violation of terms of his felony probation, multiple “anti-auditing” channels launched investigations into Kostal’s past convictions.
The Navin Drive in Theatre channel revealing that Kostal had been arrested multiple times in a three-year period in the late 00’s for having unlawful sexual intercourse, sexual penetration of a person under 18, and oral copulation with a minor.
Kostal apparently took a plea deal for the combined charges and was eventually convicted of one count of unlawful sexual intercourse and one count of sexual penetration of a person under 18.
These accusations were later rebroadcast over the weekend by Frauditor Troll, resulting in Kostal’s apparent decision to self-delete his YouTube channel.
Reactions to Kostal’s decision were mixed within the First Amendment auditing community. Christopher Ruff went live on Monday and immediately denounced Kostal, claiming that if he can find proof of the accusations he would remove the video he made featuring Kostal’s content despite the video receiving over 300,000 views.
Ruff, who had served multiple years in prison, said that child molesters were housed in special yards for a reason and indicated that Kostal may be killed in prison if he was again arrested for similar crimes.
Attorney Michael Ehline, strangely, took a different approach, offering a scenario where Kostal’s convictions may be illegal under existing “Romeo and Juliet” laws protecting underage sexual relationships.
Ehline insinuated that Kostal was 17 when he started having intercourse with a 12- or 13-year-old. The pair continued their romantic relationship after Kostal achieved adulthood. While still illegal under most “Romeo and Juliet” laws, Ehline implied that Kostal may have been protected from conviction due to the pair’s closeness in age.
The attorney went on to defend his recent interview with Kostal as Kostal’s past had no influence on his standing as a First Amendment auditor.
