New Mexico based activist and YouTuber James “James Freeman” Springer was inadvertently trolled on his Friday livestream by the Lincoln County, New Mexico, government phone system, when a series of his calls were forwarded to the department of solid waste.
Freeman was attempting to follow up on a woman named Courtney’s case with the Lincoln County sheriff’s department. As detailed in his Thursday livestreams that resulted in Freeman being trespassed from all public properties in Lincoln County, Courtney had a romantic relationship with one of the deputies that turned sour, and she reported him to the police for various unethical reasons.
Courtney allegedly passed a school bus that was attempting to let children exit the vehicle and was pulled over by police. She then fled the traffic stop, being apprehended by police who came to the house she was staying at (not her normal address) to arrest her. She then spent a night in jail before being released on Thursday.
Freeman, under the guise of assisting Courtney’s lawyer, has been seeking the return of her driver’s license. He called the Lincoln County sheriff’s office directly at the start of the livestream, was transferred to someone who could assist him and then the person he was transferred to did not pick up and he was disconnected.
The YouTuber called the office back, this time being hung up on as the dispatcher needed to take another call. Freeman repeatedly called the same number before switching to attempting to call the Lincoln County City Manager’s office for assistance.
When presented with a list of menu options, Freeman declined to choose from the menu and was automatically connected to the office of solid waste management. Freeman had a cheery conversation with a woman named Mary, promptly hung up on him when he tried to convince her to quit her job and offered to be a reference for any job she’d apply for in the future.
Repeated phone calls to the same number again saw Freeman fail to pick an option and apparently be connected to and hung up on by the phones at the office of solid waste. Freeman conceded that if this was deliberate troll by the Lincoln County government, and not just his own incompetence with the phone system, it was a masterful troll before ending the livestream.
Freeman offered no direct updates on his threatened lawsuit against Lincoln County during the livestream other than he would be seeking an injunction on his trespass and possibly filing the lawsuit next week.
