Thursday saw one of the most surreal messages posted to X (formerly Twitter) Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney (Turtleboy) posted a picture of he and his defense team having a “victory meal” after a judge refused to dismiss charges of violating a protection order.

Turtleboy’s odd victory celebration came as the blogger celebrated his Judge Michael J. Pomarole had an opportunity to jail Turtleboy for violating the terms of his bond for picking up new charges but refused to do so. Ironically, Judge Pomarole issued a warning to Turtleboy that if he picked up new charges he could be imprisoned.
The victory came as Turtleboy was arraigned for charges from a late February incident where he is accused of violating ex-girlfriend Lindsey Gaetani’s protection order against him. Turtleboy was scheduled for an arraignment on Thursday morning, with a motion to dismiss filed by his attorney, Tim Bradl.
Bradl’s motion to set aside the charges was denied as Judge Pomarole found probable cause in the arrest, which led to a dangerous hearing in the Court’s afternoon session.
Special Prosecutor Ken Mello provided no evidence that Turtleboy was a physical danger to Gaetani at the hearing, which would have resulted in the jailing of Turtleboy for 120 days if granted and seemed ill prepared to argue his motions against the blogger.
Mello had been widely criticized by observers for showing up to court an hour late and then being apparently ill prepared to argue the merits of the dangerous hearing. Even with a nearly three-hour delay between morning and afternoon sessions, Mello was not prepared to counter Judge Pomarole’s unfamiliarity with the case.
In a stunning series of events, Turtleboy ultimately celebrated the lack of immediate jailing as his fans applauded in the courtroom, even though Judge Pomarole then denied his motion to dismiss the charges against him and ordered him to appear for a pretrial hearing on April 26, 2024, at 9AM.
