Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney emerged from Friday’s protection order hearing with a “victory” of sorts, as he is now allowed to ignore Lindsey Gaetani’s existing protection order within 50 feet of courthouses within the Commonwealth.
The result was a far cry from the boasts made by Kearney and fans as he entered the courtroom on Friday. Kearney had pledged that the entire protection order, sought by Gaetani after an alleged domestic violence incident last December, would be vacated as Kearney felt that Gaetani no longer was fearful of him, and that the protection order interfered with his ability to report on the Karen Read murder trial.
On the stand, according to Grant Smith Ellis on Twitter, Kearney complained that Gaetani has contacted him three times since the protection order was put in place and was using her presence at hearings in the Karen Read murder trial to “weaponize” herself against him as he could no longer attend hearings without having to leave if Gaetani was present.
Gaetani would later take the stand and admitted she “butt dialed” Kearney once as she was archiving old Facebook messages and Kearney was in jail. The two other examples Kearney gave were from accounts not associated with Gaetani.
She also admitted that she was present at two hearings in the Karen Read murder trial and only reported Kearney to police when she suspected him of being involved with vandalizing her car at one of the hearings.
Kearney, strangely, admitted to illegally attempting to access Gaetani’s personal accounts after accidentally receiving discovery from the Commonwealth on Thursday. A drive containing a copy of Gaetani’s phone was accidentally turned over to Kearney’s attorney, Tim Bradl, who provided the copy to Kearney.
It is unclear if Kearney will be facing charges for this admission, or for the alleged distribution of the contents of the drive to his “inner circle.”
In related news, retired Judge Robert Cosgrove appeared in place of Special Prosecutor Kenneth Mello at the hearing. It is unclear if Cosgrove is permanently replacing Mello as special prosecutor for Kearney’s on-going criminal cases as of press time.
The next pre-trial hearing in this case is scheduled for May 30, 2024. The next hearing in Kearney’s felony witness intimidation case is scheduled for May 23, 2024.
