Brian “Here’s the Deal” Young became the first YouTuber to air a prison conversation with Jose “Chille” DeCastro since he was imprisoned in the Clark County Detention Center last week.
DeCastro sounded desperate in the 14-minute interview with his good friend, explaining that his business was failing as it was based on him addressing his fans on live streams for 3-4 hours a day, which he could not do while he was in jail. He began begging for his fans and friends to pitch in $25,000 to fund his appeals lawyer and then pledged that if he gets the funds, he’ll be out of lockup “within a month.”
He then described a scenario where the guards knew who he was and couldn’t believe he wasn’t in for such low-level charges, DeCastro then changed his description of the scenario, describing constant lockdowns within the facility and being restrained to his bed for over 20 consecutive hours due to lockdown protocols.
Addressing his trial, the jailed YouTuber initially took all blame for his guilty verdict, stating that his anger caused him to ignore his own advice to be respectful to the judge and court staff. He then later blamed his attorney for not putting into evidence a video he had intended to use in his own defense, for being passive in his cross examination of witnesses and for generally not being prepared for the trial.
DeCastro, who had a year to prepare for the trial, also blamed the bailiffs for angering him before the trial by asking him to take his feet off the bench he was sitting on. His anger compounded when one of the bailiffs snatched a phone out of his hands at the order of Judge Anne Zimmerman.
Zimmerman then became the subject of DeCastro’s scorn as DeCastro claimed that she was biased against him as she was married to a police officer, she had watched DeCastro’s videos, and had improperly ruled against his request to make Mee his standby attorney.
Young immediately shared a link to the wrong GoFundMe from his YouTube description link, linking to DeCastro’s “Activists Fund” GoFundMe, where donations were promised to go to activists and not DeCastro, instead of his personal GoFundMe. Within two hours, the Activist’s Fund raised nearly $8000.00 in small money donations. DeCastro’s personal GoFundMe was stuck at under $400.00 as of Sunday evening.
As he ended the call, DeCastro claimed that his dog Charlie was “fine” and staying with a relative until DeCastro is released from jail.
DeCastro is currently scheduled to be released on August 3, 2024.
