Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s Tuesday night fundraiser for Garrett “Press with Rancor” Van Nett (Rancor) was derailed as DeCastro launched into a ninety-minute attack on fellow YouTuber SeanPaul “Long Island Audit” Reyes (LIA).
DeCastro started his fundraiser for Rancor with the statement that he had hired a new attorney for the YouTuber and that he had already paid $12,000 towards a retainer for the attorney. DeCastro’s current fundraiser was to pay $6,000 for the first of eight installments he and Rancor have agreed to pay to attorney James Makowski of Makowski Legal in Michigan.
Makowski agreed to take over Rancor’s case from a public defender and apparently had Rancor’s March 19-20 trial postponed without telling Rancor. Rancor was peddling a conspiracy theory in DeCastro’s side chat that Delta County, Michigan, prosecutor Lauren Wickman had conspired with the Judge in DeCastro’s criminal case from 2022 in Las Vegas to set his trial for the same day as Rancor’s trial to prevent DeCastro from travelling to Michigan.
Upon seeing the note from Rancor, DeCastro said he’d willingly get his trial delayed in Las Vegas again if it meant having to go to Michigan to support Rancor. DeCastro then called attorney Makowski, who confirmed that the March date was off, and they were looking for trial dates in early July or late September for Rancor’s trial.
After playing parts of Rancor’s arrest video, DeCastro received a super chat from a chat participant named Chris Shuckra, who asked DeCastro’s opinion on LIA’s Attorney Shield service. DeCastro disparaged the service and claimed that he had been approached by the creator of the product before LIA and he had turned down the endorsement as he felt the product would not work.
Eventually, LIA (or someone with an account named Long Island Audits featuring a YouTube verification checkmark), entered DeCastro’s side chat and posted, “Heard you talking about me. Keep my name out of your mouth loser I’ll see you at your trial. 60k for an attorney. What a joke you are…wonder what you are going to do with that money.”
DeCastro was immediately triggered by the message, attacking LIA for the next approximately ninety-minutes as he exchanged messages and threats with the auditor. During his attack, DeCastro claimed to be the top auditor on YouTube and that his enormous growth would mean that he would soon surpass LIA in both subscribers and viewers.
He then claimed that LIA and YouTuber Lackluster made $50-$70,000 a month from YouTube and did not use any of their earnings to support their fans or participate in fundraising efforts. DeCastro attempted to goad LIA into appearing on panel in Streamyard and joining the lawsuit. He also claimed that he would be adding Lackluster to his California based lawsuit against Kate Peter, Blue Bacon, Team Skeptic and Daniel Clement in a second amended complaint.
Continuing to air his beefs and completely ignore the fundraiser, DeCastro went on to repeat claims that he would “soon” sue Josh Abrams and have him served in Denver, but backtracked from suing James Freeman as Freeman’s alleged comments about him were qualified as an opinion.
While DeCastro eventually timed out LIA, he admitted that the fundraiser had failed and that he and his “law partner” would absorb the cost of this month’s $6,000 payment to Makowski.
