Christopher “Denver Metro Audits’ Cordova’s (DMA) verbal standoff with a security guard and a Denver Metro police officer ended without an arrest after a dispute in the parking lot of a Denver Department of Human Services.
DMA went live on Monday after a security guard asked him to stop recording at a Denver Department of Human Services mental hospital in Denver’s district four. The YouTuber admitted to recording the outside of the building but explained that he was not trying to enter a restricted area.
After a 20-minute wait, police arrived on scene and officer Daryau Chowry advised DMA that he needed to leave the private parking lot. DMA objected to the classification of the parking lot and asked the officer to confirm the parking lot’s status with his sergeant.
Following an extended monolog about the public vs. private status of parking lots by DMA, the responding officer admitted that he was wrong, and that DMA was free to record in the parking lot as it was open to the public.
The officer told DMA to enjoy recording in parking lots before driving off. DMA, miffed at the officer’s comment then told his chat “NOT” to file a complaint against the officer for his comments while his moderators distributed the phone number for Denver’s district four police facility.
