YouTuber Craig Hendry claimed in a livestream that an unidentified worker at the Terre Haute, Indiana, City Hall, damaged his phone during an incident at the City Hall on Tuesday.
Hendry had been conducting an audit within the City Hall to test the city’s policy preventing audio and video recording within the premises. Hendry contended that it was legal to film within the hallways of the city hall as long as he didn’t enter rooms that had signage displayed preventing recording.
The YouTuber found a door without such signage and proceeded to open the door and enter an office where he encountered a woman looking at her phone, oblivious to his presence. A man confronted him from another office, stating that Hendry had entered a private office and needed to leave.
Hendry confronted the man and Hendry’s phone was apparently knocked to the ground in a scuffle between the men. Hendry’s video of the situation was blocked due to the close proximity of the other man. After the event, Hendry claimed that his phone was damaged after being knocked from his hands.
A man later identified by Hendry as City Attorney Michael Wright joined the two and escorted Hendry away from the office. Police were called to the scene and Hendry declined to press charges, telling the police that he wanted an apology from the man who confronted him.
Hendry had not received a call from the man before going live and it is unclear as of press time if he’ll follow through with a police report.
This is a developing story.
