Multiple news sources indicated that after Monday’s Jury selection hearing for the Karen Read murder trial, 19 individuals were selected to be jurors, but jury selection would continue on Wednesday as many of those selected had issues with their selection.
Apparently multiple jurors are using the hardship excuse to attempt to be eliminated from jury duty. An attempted mass exodus of potential Jurors was expected as the trial is expected to last a minimum of six weeks and the jury was subject to mass scrutiny by supporters of both sides of the issue.
It is unclear if Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney’s recent allegations of juror misconduct were addressed at Monday’s hearing. A woman who was not selected to be a juror told Kearney on a weekend livestream that at least one of the possible jurors lied about their knowledge of the case. It true, the uncertainty would continue Kearney’s stated intention to disrupt the jury selection process.
Kearney himself will be before Judge Beverly J. Cannone, who is also overseeing Read’s murder trial, for a pre-trail hearing on Tuesday. Kearney is accused of multiple felony counts of witness intimidation related to his time as the leader of the so-called “Free Karen Read” movement.
The YouTuber’s trial for the felony charges is expected to take place later this year.
