Tuesday night’s YouTube broadcast and Wednesday morning’s Facebook broadcast saw Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney (Turtleboy) questioned his on-going coverage of the Karen Read murder case, indicating that there were other stories he could be working on.
Turtleboy’s statements come as he is facing increasing scrutiny for his role in the case after prosecution documents revealed that Read allegedly used him as a spokesperson, leaking information to him to distribute to the public that then could be cited as credible reports by her defense team.
He also seemed to be reacting to new charges filed against him on Tuesday for allegedly violating a protection order against him taken by his former girlfriend. Turtleboy allegedly violated that protection order at Monday’s hearing for Karen Read and briefly wondered aloud on Wednesday’s livestream that he may skip future hearings in Karen Read’s trial to avoid running into the ex-girlfriend.
On Tuesday night’s stream, Turtleboy painted the ex-girlfriend as being a drug addict who was obsessed with him. He repeated claims that the ex-girlfriend acted with the district attorney’s office to put him in a situation where his bail was ultimately revoked in December after she came forward with accusations that he had used violence against her.
While that charge was ultimately dismissed, Turtleboy spent 60 days in jail as his bond conditions were revoked. He claimed on the Tuesday broadcast that he was accused of screaming “liar” at the ex-girlfriend in public and asked for anyone who witnessed his activities on Monday to write to his e-mail address to verify his innocence.
In both Tuesday and Wednesday’s broadcasts, the blogger indicated that there were “other stories” that deserved his attention and that he “couldn’t wait” until the Karen Read trial was over.
Turtleboy’s need for the trial to be over may be more personal than being tired of the coverage, as he is facing nearly 20 combined felony and misdemeanor charges from his involvement as the leader of the “Free Karen Read” movement.
