On Monday, May 15, 2023, I sat through one of the most perplexing and complicated topics that we’ve ever covered during my time as part of the cast of the Welsh News Network.
For weeks now, we’ve provided coverage of Jeremiah Payne, a Kentucky or Tennessee based auditor (depending on the day), whose need to fund raise for every aspect of his life while telling elaborate lies, engaging in endless feuds and drama and constant paranoia have defined his character.
As part of that coverage, I’ve listened to about 100 hours of Jeremiah’s live streams (probably an exaggerated figure but it damn well SEEMS like 100 hours), as Jeremiah has become increasingly desperate and his paranoia has grown to the point where he’s giving up good jobs and moving his family based on what I thought was silly rumors he’s heard of people stalking him.
Last week I reported someone was safely at home when Jeremiah was accusing someone of stalking his family. I did not know at the time that the person was on a live stream and flashed a room key card from the hotel that Jeremiah was staying at in order to either give the impression that he had been at the hotel Jeremiah had stayed at or worse, really had tracked Jeremiah down in order to stalk Jeremiah in person.
Even though that person has since recanted the claim and is now apparently claiming that his involvement in a conspiracy against Jeremiah was all a lie, it was my error for not checking into his claims further and giving that person an out in this publication based on an assumption that they would never do something as stupid as taking things with Jeremiah to an in-person stalking.
Evidence was revealed on the Welsh News Network last night that the person’s actions were part of a larger conspiracy. That he was allegedly working in a group that had turned a simple fun game of pranking Jeremiah Payne into a complex system of real-life stalking, harassing and frankly, kicking Payne when he was down to force him into homelessness.
Those involved fabricated evidence to leak to Jeremiah Payne and let Keeping it Criminal, Dogtective and others be accused of actions that they were innocent of doing. All in order to advance their goal of humiliating Payne.
The group, if the actions are true and I in my opinion I have no reason NOT to believe that they did what they’re accused of after examining the evidence, also did the one thing that I never thought I’d see: They proved Jeremiah Payne to be correct in his “paranoid” accusations.
There really was someone stalking him in person.
There really were people trading his nudes in order to humiliate him.
There really was a group dedicated to kicking him when he was down and wanted to force him into homelessness out of fear for his family.
Jeremiah Payne is a horrible person in my opinion. He’s a grifter and a con man. He uses his daughter as bait in order to fund his schemes because no one wants to see a five-year-old on the streets. His behavior is constantly rewarded by people who come in to white knight at the last minute for him “on behalf of the child.”
Jose “Chille” DeCastro found that out last night. His fund raising for Jeremiah literally split his chat in his live stream. He blocked names and removed posts from some of his biggest supporters, who have seen what Jeremiah is and cannot back him. He only saved his chat from completely turning on him by announcing that he had already given Jeremiah money and was just trying to get his money back so he can make bills for the month.
Most Americans are one or two missed paychecks away from homelessness. A lot of us could end up being in similar situations to Jeremiah Payne with just a couple of bad turns in our lives. While most of us would not turn to grifting on the internet in order to stave off homelessness or desperation, desperate people do desperate things.
If we’re ever in that spot, the last thing any of us would need would be a group of people dedicated to kicking us when we’re down, no matter how much “we deserve it.”
I take personal responsibility for promoting the actions of the group in this publication. As a spectator, I knew there were “harmless pranks” going on and I’ve reported on some of the pranks. I did not know how far those pranks were going or how dark things had turned out to be. I did not have knowledge of their private server or of organized activities in actively harassing Jeremiah Payne.
I was not involved in the group nor was I involved in personally stalking Jeremiah Payne nor his family, but if my actions in my reporting caused even tangential harm, I apologize for it.
While I’ve never claimed to be a “journalist,” I understand that a neutral stance in my reporting is important. In the future I will not give subjects of stories the benefit of the doubt nor assume that they are not capable of things that were clearly insane when taken at face value.
Thank you for your patronage and your support of this publication.
