In a statement posted by on the Townsend, Massachusetts official website the Town Clerk of Townsend, MA posted the following update, an apparent fatal blow to Abrams’ chances of overturning his election loss to Chaz Sexton-Diranian.

“On April 23, 2024 a concern was made regarding one of the candidates running for office campaigned inside the 150-foot radius of the entrances to Memorial Hall. An inquiry was made to the Secretary of the Commonwealth, Elections Division as to whether it was required to have an engineer measure the 150-foot radius from the entrance was required. The Elections Division responded it is not a requirement. Therefore, a measurement was made by the office of the Town Clerk and the accusation was put to rest, the candidate was outside the 150-foot radius to the polling place.”
Abrams was seeking Sexton-Diranian’s seat on the Board of Selectmen, which has a three-year term of office. Out of 1307 votes, Sexton-Diranian received a total of 776 votes to Abrams 322 votes, with 2 write-in votes and 207 votes that were left blank.
In his latest YouTube video, posted before the statement by the Townsend town clerk, Abrams filmed himself at the Townsend city hall confronting a worker and demanding that the election be vacated as Sexton-Diranian allegedly had been soliciting votes within 150 feet of the polling place in violation of the set election rules.
Abrams did not include the footage he claimed he had of Sexton-Diranian violating the rule in the video and most observers felt that the Abrams’ actions came off as an extended version of a late-night talk show comedy sketch instead of a serious accusation against the town.
While Abrams claimed he would be taking legal action against the town, no such filing has been made as of press time.
